Job description

Substation Electrical Engineer (Experienced)

M&S Engineering, LLC seeks a qualified Substation Electrical Engineer at our Spring Branch, Texas location to perform engineering and design duties which require application of engineering principles and knowledge of substation design.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Detail engineering and design of substation projects from conceptual design through construction from 4kV to 345kV
  • Detail relaying, protection, and controls engineering and design
  • Create/modify design documents and drawings for a project, including specifications, technical reports to support design as required by permitting agencies, and generating bills of material
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with manager, clients, and others as needed
  • Prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure that schedules and budgets are met
  • Take on a project engineer and/or project manager role as required

Requirements

  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering (emphasis in Power is preferred)
    • Masterโ€™s degree for this position is HIGHLY UNDESIRED
  • Minimum of 3 years applicable post-graduation substation design experience
  • Current EIT License in the State of Texas or ability to obtain the license within 12 months of hire (preferred)
  • Current PE License in the State of Texas or ability to obtain the license within 12 months of hire (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements
  • Ability to travel
  • Take personal responsibility and ownership for the quality and accuracy of work product
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD or MicroStation and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Work independently or in a team environment
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 30lbs
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record required
