AECOM has an opening for an experienced Electrical Engineer to be based in San Diego, CA.

The Electrical Engineer will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with a range of expertise supporting the expansion of their knowledge base with the ability to travel and gain field experience.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support throughout all project phases, from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
  • Perform portions of broader engineering assignments under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Gather, analyze, and correlate engineering data using established methods and procedures.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, and visual presentation materials.
  • Develop electrical system designs and construction documents for power, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Support the review of shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field issues during the construction administration phase.
  • Conduct site visits to collect data and evaluate existing electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Develop designs within a BIM environment using Revit and other design software.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project objectives.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams to support project scope, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, studies, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and designers to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering practices.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE Exam.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM-based project delivery.
  • Experience performing power system studies using SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Experience with lighting calculations using Visual, AGi32, or ElumTools.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire for professional growth and mentorship.
