Job description

Title- Biostimulant Laboratory Technician

Shift Times: 8am-5pm, Flexible

Contract-12 months

Weekly Schedule (how many hours/days): 40 hours


Position summary:

  • Seeking motivated candidates with strong organizational skills to join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary Plant Performance team at the Indianapolis Research and Development facility. If selected, you will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day laboratory activities including preparation of experimental materials (e.g. soils, chemical solutions), conducting lab and greenhouse assays, collecting data, and maintaining a clean and organized lab environment.
  • You must be able to work as a part of a team independently, network across research groups, and communicate clearly.

  • Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? OSHA Respiratory Evaluation to wear a PAPR device
  • Any exposure to common allergens? Plants, Chemicals


Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting greenhouse trials and lab assays including set-up, implementation, and assessment.
  • Treat plants by using a variety of equipment including track sprayers (requires the ability to wear respirators)
  • Carefully following established laboratory protocols and safety procedures
  • Scheduling the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Maintaining compliance with requirements for the handling and disposal of plant and microbial materials
  • Data collection, management, and quality assurance


Required Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S./associate's degree in plant biology, Soil Science, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or a related area.
  • Experience with Plants; BS in plant biology, Soil Science, Microbiology; Entry Level role so New Grad Okay or up to 5 years experience; Attention to Detail, Understanding of Biological Process• Experience conducting laboratory bioassays in an R&D setting
  • Experience conducting greenhouse trials assessing plant growth and development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, detail-orientation, and a desire to work in a dynamic laboratory environment
  • Experience with scientific record keeping and familiarity with common software applications
  • The ability to occasionally lift and move heavy objects (25-50 lbs)


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in a lab and/or greenhouse environment
  • Experience conducting experiments involving agricultural biologicals in a lab and/or greenhouse environment
  • Experience using track spraying equipment for foliar treatments
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and data collection
