We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team at the Medical Group Center, located in Rochester, New York. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and intake interviews to evaluate clients' mental health and substance use issues, establishing a foundation for personalized treatment plans.
  • Create individualized treatment plans that address specific client needs, focusing on evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions in a remote setting, employing innovative techniques to encourage participation and connection.
  • Regularly collaborate with other professionals within the treatment team to ensure holistic and coordinated care, including participation in case consultations and treatment planning discussions.
  • Educate and involve clients' families in the recovery process, providing them with resources and support to foster understanding and engagement.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential records in compliance with health regulations and ethical standards to ensure accountability and integrity of care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The client population at our detox center includes individuals dealing with various mental health and substance use disorders. As a licensed mental health counselor, you will work with a diverse group of clients ranging from adolescents to adults. Many of our clients are navigating the complexities of substance withdrawal while addressing underlying mental health conditions, thus requiring your expertise to provide empathetic and effective care.

Qualifications
  • A valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in mental health counseling, specifically within substance abuse or detox settings.
  • Proficient understanding of evidence-based practices relevant to treating mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with clients, exhibiting strong motivational interviewing skills and a client-centered approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective collaboration with team members and clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in a detox center or similar treatment environment. Familiarity with telehealth platforms is a plus.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful treatment plans for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
  • Specialized training in trauma-informed care or motivational interviewing techniques.
