Responsibilities
  • Plays a key role in the development and execution of the organization’s destination strategic plan.
  • Supervises and manages budget to maximize ROI for all marketing efforts by using all assets available in alignment with the overall strategic plan.
  • Creates and supervises marketing plans for ticketed events, marketing campaigns and initiatives to include all available services in- and out-of-market: group sales, public relations, media placement, design and layout, direct mail, promotional development, non‑profit opportunities, etc.
  • Performs detailed research and analytics, recommending marketing strategies in relation to destination marketing and event marketing.
  • Utilizes analytics and data-driven decision making to evaluate campaign performance, audience engagement, conversion metrics, and ROI.
  • Oversee digital marketing strategy including website performance, SEO/SEM, email marketing, paid digital advertising, social media campaigns, and audience targeting.
  • Monitors KPIs and prepares regular performance reports for executive leadership.
  • Leverages digital platforms, travel trade, and media partnerships to expand reach in target domestic and international markets.
  • Leads destination brand positioning efforts to differentiate El Paso in competitive leisure groups, and international markets.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and innovative marketing tools, including AI-driven marketing platforms and audience engagement solutions.
  • Build relationships and maintain databases of media, industry influencers, and travel writers along with key community and strategic partners, as well as civic and industry organizations, corporate promotional contacts and event and booking representatives.
  • Works collaboratively with executive leadership and department directors to implement a cohesive public relations image.
  • Assists executive leadership with crisis communications planning, media response, and reputation management when necessary.
  • Supports internal communication initiatives to ensure organizational alignment and consistent messaging across departments.
  • Recognizes opportunities to receive publicity from building operations, activities, destination marketing initiatives, awards/honors, etc. and shares with local, regional or national media and/or Legends Global Corporate.
  • Works with individual departments to create and approve content, including websites, social media, collateral, press releases, newsletters, and media opportunities.
  • Operates the department with a conscious commitment to maximum exposure through the most effective and efficient means possible.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between external advertising agencies, creative partners, vendors, and internal leadership, providing strategic direction and oversight for all marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and production of creative assets, including photography, video production, digital content, print advertising, promotional campaigns, and branded marketing materials.
  • Acts as the organization’s brand steward, ensuring consistency in messaging, visual identity, and brand standards across all internal and external communications, partnerships, sponsorships, and promotional efforts.
  • Monitors national tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and marketing trends, as well as local market conditions, to identify opportunities and recommend innovative marketing strategies.
  • Evaluates and implements emerging technologies, digital platforms, and audience engagement tools related to websites, mobile applications, social media, advertising, media buying, and promotional initiatives.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership and department directors to develop and oversee key organizational publications and materials, including annual reports, strategic marketing plans, presentations, proposals, recap reports, videos, and promotional collateral.
  • Directly supervises marketing and communications personnel, including Marketing Managers, Marketing Coordinators, Graphic Designers, Digital Marketing staff, and Communications team members.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to marketing and communications staff while fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team environment.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws, including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, employee engagement, and conflict resolution in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned in support of organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Photoshop and Illustrator design experience a plus.
  • Website maintenance and basic HTML knowledge needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree from four‑year college or university in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing within entertainment, destination marketing or with a marketing / advertising agency.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience
Physical Demands
  • Position is not substantially exposed to adverse conditions.
  • Ability to distinguish color for intricate design purposes.
  • Daily standing for up to 15 minutes at a time operating office equipment such as printer or photocopier.
  • Write using pen/pencil or personal computer keyboard for up to 30 minutes at a time on a daily basis.
  • Ability/licensed to drive automobiles.
  • Ability to move frequently between various buildings/venues/media outlets daily.
  • Ability to routinely sit, focusing on and operating a personal computer or terminal keyboard to enter data for over 60 minutes at a time.
  • Ability to read printed words and numbers in printed form and on computer/terminal monitor.
  • Hours of Work/Travel Requirements/Environment/Conditions
  • Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM
  • Frequent additional hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, flexible schedule required.
  • This position is within an office environment, however, requires in and out of doors several times a day.
  • Occasional travel, both within the United States and internationally required.
