Design Manager: Lead the Standard of Telecom Excellence
Are you a technical expert with a passion for leadership? As our Design Manager, you will steer a high-performing design team, overseeing the creation of precision engineering plans for fiber optic networks. You will be the bridge between complex technical requirements and flawless project execution, ensuring our designs are not only accurate but innovative and constructible.
 
The Mission:
  • Team Leadership: Manage day-to-day design operations, delegating tasks and mentoring junior designers to foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Quality & Precision: Drive the QA/QC process for all engineering drawings, ensuring strict adherence to CAD standards, building codes, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Project Orchestration: Collaborate with Market Managers to allocate resources, track project hours in Sitetracker, and ensure every deliverable is on time and under budget.
  • Technical Oversight: Mastermind complex underground utility profiles, traffic control plans, and fiber route designs while coordinating essential field work (IKE surveys, mappings, and inspections).
  • Process Innovation: Develop and maintain CAD libraries, templates, and training materials to keep the team at the cutting edge of industry standards.
Simplified Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of telecommunications design experience (Fiber) with a proven track record of managing teams.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a related technical field.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level AutoCAD and GIS skills; must be able to interpret and translate data into construction drawings.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of telecom building codes, right-of-way/easements, and aerial/underground cable placement.
  • Project Management: Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Field Capability: Comfortable managing and performing site surveys, mappings, and structural investigations.
