How to become a design manager?

Career: Design Manager

To become a Design Manager in the architecture or construction field, you need to earn a bachelor’s degree at a minimum, but many employers look favorably at professionals holding a master’s degree. Relevant degree programs include engineering, industrial design, and architecture. Supplement your core studies with work in computer science studies, especially ensuring you learn the basics and beyond of computer-assisted design (CAD). Additionally, learn as much as possible about contemporary building standards and regulations in general, and how they relate to the area where you plan to work. After college, find an internship or entry-level position with an architectural design firm or construction company to gain experience and work your way up to a Design Manager Position.
