What is demand management?

Demand management is the process of forecasting, planning, and controlling the demand for products or services to ensure a balance between customer needs and the supply chain's capabilities. It involves analyzing market trends, predicting customer demand, and implementing strategies to optimize inventory levels, production schedules, and resource allocation. Effective demand management helps organizations reduce costs, improve customer satisfaction, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Demand Management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Demand Management often encounter challenges such as managing forecast accuracy, balancing supply with fluctuating demand, and aligning cross-functional teams. To address these, it is important to leverage robust data analytics tools, maintain clear communication across departments (such as sales, operations, and supply chain), and regularly update forecasting models to reflect market changes. Proactive collaboration and continuous learning can help demand managers navigate uncertainties and add strategic value to their organizations.

To thrive in Demand Management, you need strong analytical skills, supply chain knowledge, and experience with forecasting, often supported by a degree in business, logistics, or a related field. Job description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging - but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
Summary:
Lead the definition and execution of global demand planning and steering for AI Agents and Intelligent Packages across SAP's Data & AI portfolio. Translate strategy into integrated, measurable demand programs that drive pipeline generation, customer activation, consumption, and expansion at scale. This role ensures SAP's Data & AI offerings achieve programmatic, scalable demand across launches and scaled consumption-directly impacting pipeline, customer value realization, and revenue growth.
What you'll do
  • Define and own the global demand strategy and ambitions (pipeline, activation, consumption) for AI Agents and Intelligent Packages.
  • Convert Data & AI GTM priorities into Integrated Demand Programs (IDPs) and standardized KPIs.
  • Orchestrate global launches, field activation, and post-launch scaling; enable regions to localize into a single DG Action Plan.
  • Align cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Partners, Services, Digital Hub, Customer Success) to prevent fragmentation and ensure end-to-end execution.
  • Lead demand performance steering: run global/regional reviews and QBRs, monitor pipeline health, adoption velocity, and consumption growth, and drive corrective actions.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations on pipeline quality, activation readiness, and growth blockers to senior leadership.
  • Improve demand planning standards, tooling, governance, enablement, and communications for Data & AI offerings.

What you'll bring (required)
  • 8+ years in sales, GTM strategy, demand management, or revenue operations-experience with innovation-led portfolios.
  • Deep knowledge of demand management, packaged offerings, and adoption-led growth for AI or software solutions.
  • Proven experience building and scaling launch-to-consumption demand programs and KPIs.
  • Strong ability to influence and align global and regional stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • Excellent communicator able to articulate complex AI value propositions and translate them into clear demand priorities.
  • Broad functional understanding across pipeline creation, activation, and post-sale expansion.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with AI Agents, packaged AI offerings, or consumption-based business models.
  • Experience leading virtual/global teams or cross-functional programs.
  • Familiarity with demand planning tools and standardized KPI frameworks.
