Job description

About MKB

MKB is a leading manufacturer and distributor of environmental and stormwater management solutions, serving customers nationwide through a growing network of facilities and brands. As we continue to scale through organic growth and acquisition, we are focused on building strong, data-driven supply chain capabilities that support operational excellence, customer service, and long-term growth.

The Demand Planning Manager plays a critical role in helping MKB navigate seasonal and cyclical demand patterns, align production and inventory with market needs, and support informed decision-making across the organization.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Demand Planning Manager to lead forecasting, demand planning, and inventory strategy within our manufacturing environment. This role is critical to managing seasonal swings, volatile demand, and capacity constraints while ensuring our production and supply chain teams are prepared for both peaks and troughs in the business cycle.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, business-savvy, and comfortable operating at the intersection of data, operations, and strategy. This individual will own the demand planning function, drive continuous improvement in forecast accuracy, and partner cross-functionally to stabilize production and optimize inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end demand planning process for cyclical product lines, incorporating historical trends, economic indicators, and market intelligence.

  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical forecasts that account for seasonality, distributor stocking patterns, and macroeconomic cycles.

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Production, and Procurement to integrate commercial insights and capacity constraints into demand plans.

  • Lead the S&OP / IBP cycle, presenting demand scenarios, risks, assumptions, and trade-offs to senior leadership.

  • Build and enhance forecasting models, tools, and processes to improve visibility and predictability across the business.

  • Monitor and improve forecasting KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Develop inventory strategies that buffer cyclical fluctuations while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence.

  • Provide scenario planning to prepare the business for upturns, downturns, and market disruptions.

  • Champion digital tools, data automation, and best practices in forecasting and demand planning.

  • Manage inventory strategies to achieve target turnover, value, and accuracy goals.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in demand planning or forecasting within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of seasonal and cyclical demand patterns, long manufacturing lead times, and capacity-driven operations.

  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional planning processes.

  • Advanced analytical skills with strong proficiency in Excel and business intelligence tools.

  • Experience with demand planning platforms such as SAP IBP, APO, Kinaxis, o9, or Blue Yonder; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to multiple facilities, customer sites, and company events.

Preferred

  • Masterโ€™s degree in Supply Chain, Analytics, or Business.

  • Experience in industries with cyclical, seasonal, or project-driven demand (e.g., building materials, automotive, durable goods, industrial equipment).

  • APICS CPIM/CSCP or IBF forecasting certifications.

Key Competencies
  • Strong data interpretation, forecasting, and modeling skills
