Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Decision Support Administrator - Advanced who is also an experienced programmer that thrives at the intersection of data, mobility, and real world impact. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that transform complex transportation datasets into actionable insights that help improve roadway safety, optimize traffic flow, and support long term infrastructure planning. In this role you will identify and interpret data patterns and trends, build data visualization tools such as charts, graphs, develop custom applications and tables for management, ensure the integrity of the data in various ITS systems, and work with stakeholders to establish key performance indicators.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations for traffic operations, congestion analysis, and safety metrics.
โ€ข Develop custom applications, scripts, and automation tools using Python, C#, or other programming languages.
โ€ข Develop automated reporting solutions to support daily, weekly, and monthly transportation performance monitoring.
โ€ข Assist with developing specific Departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
โ€ข Assist in the development of Quality Management procedures.
โ€ข Work closely with cross-functional teams, including traffic engineers, traffic operators, and leadership to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
โ€ข Support data driven decision making for congestion mitigation, safety initiatives, transit planning, and infrastructure investments.
โ€ข Create and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and data models to support operational and analytical needs.
โ€ข Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across multiple transportation data sources.
โ€ข This role requires strong technical skills in data analysis, data visualization, and database management.
โ€ข Troubleshoot and optimize BI systems, applications, and reports.
Required Qualifications
โ€ข Ability to develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, functions and data transformations to support analytics and operational reporting.
โ€ข Ability to develop reports and interactive, user-friendly dashboards, utilizing business intelligence tools like Power BI.
โ€ข Ability to design and implement data extraction, transformation, and automation workflows using programming languages such as Python and C#.
โ€ข Experience working with large datasets, relational databases, and APIs.
โ€ข 3-5 years of professional experience in Power BI development, software programming, or data engineering roles, preferably within an IT or government environment.
โ€ข Strong analytical, problem solving, and data processing skills required.
โ€ข Familiarity with transportation systems such as ATMS, ITS infrastructure, and traffic management platforms.
โ€ข Understanding of GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data.
โ€ข Provide technical guidance on data best practices, visualization standards, and performance metrics.
