The Dean is a school-based administrative position and is a member of the school's leadership team. Deans work closely with the school's principal to implement, model, develop, and improve the overall instructional program of the school. Deans are school level leaders who serve as site-based technology support for teachers and scholars. School level leadership responsibilities include all aspects of monitoring, assessing, and guidance of overall academic and enrichment programs offered by the school. Deans support all facets of the cultural and operational expectations as outlined by Gestalt Community Schools. Deans work closely with teachers to guide the implementation of the school's instruction model, curriculum and instructional support services. As part of the administrative team, deans have other duties and administrative assignments under the direction of the school principal.
Qualifications:
  • Current Tennessee administrator's license or qualify to secure within one year of employment.
  • 3+ years of exemplary teaching experience (level 4-5)
  • 1+ years of leadership experience in either or all of the following: residency program completion, teacher leadership program, team leader.
  • Experience in a turn-around school, charter school, and/or urban school environment not required but preferred.
  • Ability to create and implement an effective teacher and/or scholar induction program.
  • Strong knowledge of TN state standards, Common Core, and ACT College Readiness standards.
  • Highly proficient in student online curriculum and intervention programs, teacher online grade book programs, and student database systems.
  • Highly proficient in operating both MAC and PC computer operating systems and Microsoft Office.
Reports to:
Deans report to the school principal. Deans are evaluated using the GCS Leadership Dimensions and the Tennessee Instructional Leadership Standards (TILS).
