CRi is seeking a Day Program Nurse Coordinator for a Northern Virginia program!
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) evaluates and oversees the ongoing healthcare requirements of individuals in day support programs. This role involves assessing and monitoring the skilled nursing needs of individuals and directing staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. The RN supervises and provides clinical guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) as needed in the day support program, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate medical interventions, and facilitates staff development in medication and first aid practices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care services in line with the legal scope of nursing practice and the standards set by the nursing profession, the Nurse Practice Act, and relevant regulatory bodies.
• Apply professional nursing methodologies, including assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation, to fulfill nursing responsibilities.
• Supervise and provide clinical direction to day program staff, ensuring exemplary care for individuals, adherence to protocols, medication management, and first aid care within the appropriate scope of practice. Monitor compliance with regulatory guidelines and licensure prerequisites.
• Conduct evaluations of individuals' healthcare requirements through interdisciplinary assessments and design, execute, and appraise customized nursing and healthcare strategies, including skilled nursing.
• Evaluate potential candidates for Skilled Nursing under the DD Waiver and coordinate their healthcare needs.
• Promptly attend to emergent healthcare demands of individuals.
• Offer guidance to CRi staff regarding health and medical concerns for individuals, as requested.
• Deliver training to CRi staff on topics such as medication management, infection control, and other health-related domains.
• Oversee the administration of all medications and treatments, including medication check-in and checkout.
• Immediately address medication errors and oversee/provide medical and/or first aid treatment, including contacting emergency services when needed.
• Document and/or review documentation related to any first aid treatment performed by other staff.
• Educate all staff on timely and accurate reporting of incidents/injuries and situations that may prove unsafe to the health and welfare of the individual and provide training for staff in health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate in the formulation of guidelines and protocols pertinent to health, nursing, and nutritional needs.
• Participate in interdisciplinary planning meetings, recommending changes in nursing and healthcare programs and/or improvements in individual care.
• Impart healthcare insights and guidance to individuals and staff members, focusing on health promotion and the prevention, management, and mitigation of illnesses, diseases, injuries, or disabilities.
• Collaborate to develop guidelines/protocols/CMS-485 for health/nursing/nutritional needs.
• Exhibit effective communication skills and actively engage as a contributing team member, collaborating with Program staff, service coordinators, residential programs and others.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Degree from an accredited RN program.
• Active, unrestricted RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience directly relevant to the role's duties and responsibilities.
Preferred to have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with I/DD population.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending the English language.
• Capacity to make independent decisions.
• Ability to navigate interpersonal interactions with discretion, whether involving personnel, individuals, family members, visitors, government entities, or the general public.
• Leadership and supervisory skills, along with a willingness to collaborate harmoniously with and manage other personnel.
• Inclination to explore novel methodologies and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
• Capability to effectively convey information about an individual's medical condition.
Physical Demands: Physical interventions, possible lifting, and assisting with self-care.
Working Environment: Programs for people with developmental disabilities.
Supervision Exercised: Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (if applicable)
