Position Overview
Maverc Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Database & Cloud Systems Engineer to support our client through a 12-month contract engagement with strong potential for full-time hire.
This role sits at the intersection of data infrastructure, Microsoft Azure (GCC High), cloud compliance, and financial operations, supporting a business environment led by a finance organization with deep public company and audit experience.
The selected candidate will work closely with leadership, including the VP of Finance, and must clearly articulate how their technical work supports:
• Financial accuracy and reporting integrity
• Operational efficiency
• Risk reduction and compliance
This is a high-visibility, client-facing role where success depends equally on technical expertise and executive communication.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Optimization
• Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Design and implement database structures, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
• Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
Cloud & Azure (GCC High)
• Support and manage systems within a Microsoft Azure GCC High environment
• Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure-based infrastructure supporting database workloads
• Ensure alignment with FedRAMP, NIST, and CMMC-aligned requirements
• Implement and maintain secure cloud architectures, including encryption, network security, and access controls
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams on Azure governance, policies, and compliance controls
Systems Integration & Financial Data Support
• Integrate databases with financial systems, reporting platforms, and ERP environments
• Support data accuracy, reporting workflows, and audit-readiness
• Assist in maintaining systems that support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Oracle Database Administration
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Microsoft Azure (including GCC High environments)
• Experience deploying and supporting database workloads in Azure
• Expertise in:
• Database performance tuning
• High availability and disaster recovery
• Secure database architecture in regulated environments
Cloud & Compliance
• Experience supporting regulated or government cloud environments (GCC High preferred)
• Strong familiarity with:
• Azure architecture and services (IaaS, PaaS, networking, storage)
• FedRAMP, NIST 800-171, or CMMC frameworks
• Understanding of environments subject to audit, compliance, or SOX-related controls
Professional Experience
• 5+ years of experience in database administration, cloud engineering, or related roles
• Experience supporting financial systems, ERP platforms, or accounting/reporting environments preferred
Peferred Qualifications
• Experience with financial platforms, pension systems, or benefits administration environments
• Exposure to data warehousing, BI tools, or analytics platforms
• Experience working within multi-domain environments, including integration with Active Directory and Azure AD
• Familiarity with identity and access considerations in GCC High environments
• Experience supporting SOX-controlled environments or public company reporting structures
