Job description

Reports to: Health Information Manager
Schedule: Must have reliable and consistent attendance. 40 hours a week Monday - Friday and the hours typically range from 8:00 AM - 9:15 AM up to 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM (Please Note: Each Monday Starts at 6:00 PM)
Main Location: Plaza II Medical Office Building near St. Thomas Midtown (Downtown Nashville)
Employee Type: Willing to consider an experienced Medical Office Professional with a great attitude, strong medical records experience (both paper and electronic), with a minimum of 1-year of scanning experience as well as data entry skills with speed and accuracy.
SUMMARY: Completes documents received virtually and manually from all Providers at HMA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Conversion of data from paper medical records to electronic medical records
  • Ensure the accuracy of data entered into electronic medical record charts
  • Timely conversion of paper medical record charts to electronic medical record charts
  • Adhering to HIPAA guidelines regarding confidentially
  • Must be willing and able to perform all functions of medical records, mail room, and PBX
  • Must have predicable and consistent attendance

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
  • Pull Charts from storage if needed
  • Chart pickup (Runs are scheduled throughout the day).
  • Back up for PBX operator if needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • One year experience in Scanning, preferably in the medical field.
  • Experience working with Windows-based computer programs
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (WPM)
  • Quick and efficient scanning ability
  • Familiarity with the contents of a physician's office medical chart
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction
  • Medical Terminology

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for 8 to 10 hours a day
  • Requires regular walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting
  • Must be able to lift at least 10-15lbs
  • Must be able to push up to 50 lbs

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office environment-limited exposure to communicable diseases.
  • No exposure to blood-borne pathogens or contaminated body fluids
