We are looking for a SCANNER TECHNICIAN for a full-time civil contract position at Dumfries Health Center, a family clinic of Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC), (formerly Fort Belvoir Community Hospital).

Position Overview:
This position provides scanning duties in support of patient care and treatment.

Essential Functions:
1. Scan all pertinent medical documents into the electronic health records.


2. Provide/follow written guidance for proper handling and sharing of hard copy and electronic medical records.

3. Establish written guidance to ensure documents are scanned into the appropriate electronic record module(s).

4. Collect documents for scanning from multiple departments on a daily basis.

5. Prepare documents for scanning and ensuring documentation has been reviewed by doctors and Tricare Insurance representatives prior to scanning.

6. Document scanning categories under the Previous Encounter and Clinical Notes Modules.

7. Assist with other duties as needed and assigned.

Job Qualifications:
The job qualifications for this position are as follows:
1. A high school diploma or GED equivalent.

2. One year related experience.

3. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training course or associates in Medical Assisting from accredited college preferred.

4. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Mail.

5. Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.

7. Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
