Mechanical and Data Automation Engineer

Versa Products Company, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Mechanical and Data Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated engineering data systems and processes that support product development and manufacturing operations. This role bridges mechanical engineering and data automation by leveraging CAD, ERP, and design automation technologies to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance engineering decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, hands-on experience with CAD systems and manufacturing processes, and a passion for developing automated solutions that streamline engineering workflows.

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to identify, scope, and implement automation opportunities across product families.
  • Design, develop, and maintain engineering automation systems and data-driven workflows.
  • Support ERP integration initiatives to streamline the order-to-manufacture process and improve data accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain rules-based design automation tools, including:
    • Automated part generation
    • Assembly creation
    • Engineering drawing generation
    • Bill of Material (BOM) creation
  • Analyze engineering and manufacturing data to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with cross-functional departments, including Sustaining Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality.
  • Support product configuration and design automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for automated systems and engineering processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and recommend new technologies and best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive project schedules.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design principles and CAD-based product development.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or an equivalent 3D CAD platform.
  • Experience with engineering design automation tools and configurator-based workflows.
  • Experience with DriveWorks or similar design automation software is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and experience supporting engineering or manufacturing system integrations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with engineering data management systems and automation technologies is a plus.
