Job Summary:
This position will focus on the collection, aggregation, analysis and presentation of data and information used to support the performance of the South Dakota Developmental Center. This position is also responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of SDDC's Electronic Health Record (EHR) software application.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Trending and tracking facility data to enable data driven decision making.
  • Develop tools, dashboards and reports for leadership review.
  • Analyze data and regulatory updates to identify, recommend, and implement process and policy changes that align with agency demands.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and deliverables with attention to detail and quality.

Ideal Applicant will have:
  • two or more years' experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility in database management and computer technology;
  • bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field - preferred;
  • strong experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is strongly preferred, and familiarity with Netsmart AVATAR is a plus;
  • demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team player, leveraging teamwork to achieve goals and solve problems;
  • strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and recommend actionable solutions in line with agency demands;
  • excellent communication and training skills to effectively assist staff and liaise with various stakeholders;
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment;
  • familiarity with relevant regulations and policies in the healthcare or public service sector is preferred.

Knowledge of:
  • proven ability to building and automate interactive dashboards using tools like Power BI;
  • serving as a System Administrator of an EHR;
  • ability to design analytical solutions when data fields are incomplete or unstandardized;
  • create tools and perform analyses to enable performance measure reporting for compliance.

Skill to:
  • integrate and clean datasets from multiple sources;
  • create data dashboards and visualizations;
  • work efficiently with staff and leaders;
  • communicate information effectively and accurately;
  • prepare clear and concise documentation, reports and correspondence;
  • analyze and interpret the results of data analysis;
  • effectively plan and organize work activities, adjust to multiple demands, and prioritize tasks to complete assignments;
  • set up/deactivate and manage staff accounts;
  • work collaboratively with department managers on needs;
  • troubleshoot basic user or system problems, address end user questions and respond to support inquiries in a timely manner.

Ability to:
  • meet with various departments to rather requirements and develop tailored dashboards;
  • analyze information, evaluate, and explore new methods to increase performance;
  • perform testing and implementation;
  • provide end user training and curriculum;
  • maintain daily census: Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) processes;
  • maintain and update referral source information;
  • maintain incident management reporting documentation;
  • maintain monthly uniform population statistics (ups) reporting;
  • leverage integrated datasets to identify issues with quality and compliance;
  • maintain fiscal year data.
