Job Description
The Corp Manager - Warehouse Automation Systems is responsible for the technical oversight, optimization, analytics, and operational performance of warehouse automation systems. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert for automation systems performance, operational diagnostics, and continuous improvement initiatives across automated warehouse operations, including managing automation trainers, training, and directives, as well as project lead for capital improvement projects for automation systems that directly influence the rate and performance of the operation.
What your day will look like:
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with UNITED policies and applicable laws
  • Builds positive associate morale; interviews, hires, trains, and appraises associates; addresses complaints and resolves problems
  • Leads end-to-end management, technical optimization, and capital improvement projects for automated warehouse picking and material handling systems
  • Monitors and analyzes automation system performance, including throughput, material flow, congestion points, downtime, error rates, and utilization trends to support operational decision-making
  • Develops and implements process and hardware improvements to optimize system efficiency, labor utilization, throughput, and operational reliability
  • Maintains and optimizes automation system configurations, parameters, and logic in coordination with warehouse operations and maintenance teams
  • Evaluates SKU profiles, slotting strategies, build logic, and automation behaviors to improve system performance
  • Supports implementation, testing, validation, and rollout of new automation technologies and system enhancements
  • Serves as escalation point for complex automation system failures, operational disruptions, and technical troubleshooting; performs advanced root cause analysis using system data, automation logs, transaction records, and performance metrics
  • Utilizes query and control languages (SQL, Ladder Logic, BI, etc.) and data analysis techniques to extract, analyze, and interpret operational automation data
  • Mentors operations personnel on automation system functionality, diagnostics, and process optimization
  • Manages and oversees Automation Trainers and training initiatives across facilities and shifts
  • Develops periodic performance reports, distributes them to the Supply Chain Team, and leads regular team meetings reviewing system performance, issues, and opportunities
  • Partners with operations, maintenance, IT, and vendor teams to implement process and system improvements

What you need to succeed:
  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
  • Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field from a four-year college or university; or 6+ years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years' experience with Vertique or comparable automated case picking systems preferred
  • 1-2 years of management experience preferred
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot T-SQL queries strongly preferred; or ability to learn upon commencement of job required
  • Experience with relational database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server or similar platforms), PLCs, automated systems, data analysis, and warehouse software (WMS/SAP) preferred
  • Experience managing automation-related projects, upgrades, or system implementations preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft software (Suite, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.), including the ability to develop professional reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and documentation required
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills required
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, flexible schedule, and be on call as required
  • Ability to travel up to 75%

Physical Requirements
Position will be required to comply with the CCBCU Personal Protective Equipment Program. Position is required to wear safety toed shoes when performing the following tasks: Operating Powered Industrial Equipment or Working in an Area where Powered Industrial Equipment is in use, Fleet Maintenance, Working with Palletized Product, Use of Hand Trucks/Dollies to Deliver Product, Cooler Services, etc.
