Job description

ABOUT ORCHESTRA
Orchestra is a strategic communications and marketing company built for today's complex and fragmented world. From decoding audiences to designing bold strategies, Orchestra integrates people, platforms, and stories that stick to help clients build lasting influence. The company offers programs that span from the highest level strategic business counsel through to tactical execution.
Orchestra brings together 700+ people with experience across consumer and lifestyle, technology, nonprofit and philanthropy, real estate, sports, travel, hospitality, advocacy, and more. It is made up of leading firms including BerlinRosen, Civitas Public Affairs Group, Derris, Glen Echo Group, Inkhouse, M18, Message Lab, Onward and Small Girls PR. Orchestra also launched Brightmode, a talent acquisition firm for communications professionals, and Versus Media Group, a strategy-first political media team. Learn more at www.orchestraco.com.
People of all backgrounds and abilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Orchestra is committed to building and maintaining a diverse staff and recognizes that its continued success depends on hiring and retaining high-quality professionals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Opportunities for advancement exist, and we are committed to helping all staff develop and grow.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Orchestra is seeking a Head of Data & Analytics to make intelligence a utility for the network - the same way finance or culture is a utility: a capability every team relies on to do the work at all, available on demand and self-serve for every pitch and every scope. The first-order mandate is to shore up the underlying data infrastructure and close existing service gaps so that capability is reliably in place. From that foundation, this is also a senior commercial and strategic role with full P&L accountability and a mandate to make Orchestra's data capability one of the most differentiated offerings in our portfolio. Revenue growth should follow from broad adoption of the utility, not depend on a small number of bespoke engagements.
The role spans all Orchestra verticals and integrates deeply with PR/Earned Media, Public Affairs, Advisory, Paid Media, Influencer Marketing, Brand Strategy, and Social. You will lead a 20+ person team, set the enterprise vision, build a self-serve intelligence platform and proprietary intelligence products, and serve as senior counsel on Orchestra's most strategic accounts.
The ideal candidate has operated at significant scale inside major agencies, consultancies, or enterprise analytics organizations, has built data and insights delivery as a scaled, automation-first utility rather than a bespoke-only research practice, and understands how to translate that foundation into commercial growth within earned media and strategic communications environments.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Build & Execute
  • Define and implement the foundational architecture, frameworks, and governance standards for insights, data and analytics across Orchestra
  • Diagnose and close near-term service gaps in existing data, research, and measurement delivery - fix the capabilities under the brand promise before scaling them commercially
  • Build a self-serve intelligence platform that puts data, insights, and reporting on demand for every team, every pitch, and every scope - not only Orchestra's largest or most strategic accounts
  • Develop proprietary intelligence infrastructure including narrative tracking, audience modeling, language strategy, and outcomes-based measurement
  • Serve as Orchestra's enterprise thought leader on insights, analytics, translating AI advancements and emerging methodologies into actionable guidance
  • Lead data strategy for key enterprise accounts requiring executive-level counsel

Drive Commercial Growth
  • Own and grow the P&L, with revenue growth driven primarily by demand generated from broad adoption of the intelligence utility, complemented by select bespoke engagements
  • Develop scalable, packaged data products and intelligence partnerships that transform transactional engagements into institutional relationships
  • Position Orchestra's insights capabilities in competitive pitches and integrated proposals
  • Articulate the ROI of data in the language of business outcomes, reputation impact, and measurable change

Operationalize Excellence
  • Oversee quantitative and qualitative research, audience segmentation, message testing, media measurement, and performance analytics across integrated accounts
  • Establish shared standards for measurement, reporting, and insight delivery network-wide
  • Build, mentor, and recruit a 20+ person team with clear specializations and growth pathways

Innovate with Rigor
  • Champion predictive, outcomes-oriented analytics over activity metrics
  • Integrate AI-augmented research tools, social listening platforms, and modern analytics technologies
  • Build methodologies that strengthen with every engagement and cannot easily be replicated

Collaborate & Influence
  • Embed analytics across Orchestra's verticals and service lines as the connective tissue of every integrated program
  • Partner with Public Relations, Public Affairs, Brand Strategy, Paid Media, and Creative teams
  • Partner with subject-matter experts and methodology owners across Strategy and Strategic Insights to translate their proprietary frameworks into scaled, self-serve products on the intelligence platform
  • Elevate analytics fluency across the network through training, workshops, and capability-building

Essential skills:
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership in strategic insights, analytics, or research including meaningful tenure inside enterprise-scale organizations
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership and revenue growth in an agency, consultancy, or analytics platform environment
  • Deep expertise in earned media analytics, narrative measurement, and strategic communications research (not primarily ad tech or paid media)
  • Proven ability to build or scale an insights function including organizational design and senior talent recruitment, and self-serve delivery models that reach far more teams than bespoke engagements alone

Capabilities
  • Experience developing proprietary research methodologies, frameworks, or data products
  • Experience owning data infrastructure - access, pipelines, governance, and hygiene - as reusable, foundational infrastructure rather than one-off, project-specific builds
  • Strong command of quantitative and qualitative research and analytics: survey design, message testing, segmentation, and media measurement
  • Mastery of modern research technologies: social listening, media monitoring, analytics dashboards, and AI-enabled tools
  • Strong cross-functional instincts with the ability to embed analytics seamlessly into broader communications and public affairs programs
  • Ability to partner with leaders across sectors (Tech & Real Estate, Consumer, Corporate & Hospitality, Impact & Political) and partner directly with the leaders on delivering client work across insights, research, analytics and reporting

Leadership
  • Commercial leader first: comfortable closing business, articulating value, and driving growth
  • Entrepreneurial and builder mindset, with comfort operating in ambiguity while scaling systems
  • Executive presence capable of counseling C-suite clients and senior internal stakeholders
  • Inspirational people manager with a track record of developing high-performing teams

Location: New York, N.Y. • Washington, D.C. • San Francisco, CA (Hybrid, 3 days in office)
Compensation: This salary range begins at $275,000 - $325,000+ plus bonus, commensurate with experience
