Job description

Job Description:
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Analytics Contractor to deliver end-to-end analytics solutions across
modern data platforms. You will build and optimize datasets in SQL Server, Snowflake, and
Microsoft Fabric, develop analytics in Python, and deliver executive-ready insights through Tableau
and Power BI. You will also leverage Microsoft Copilot and other AI-assisted tools to accelerate
analysis, development, documentation, and stakeholder support-while applying strong validation,
governance, and data quality practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate business needs into scalable analytics
deliverables (datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and insights).
• Write and optimize advanced SQL across SQL Server, Snowflake, and Microsoft
Fabric (Warehouse/Lakehouse).
• Design and maintain analytics-ready data models (dimensional/star schemas, curated
layers, reusable views/tables).
• Build, enhance, and performance-tune dashboards and reporting in Power BI (DAX, Power
Query, semantic models) and Tableau.
• Use Python (e.g., pandas, NumPy; optional scikit-learn/statsmodels) for data wrangling,
statistical analysis, forecasting, experimentation support, and automation.
• Implement data validation and quality controls (reconciliation, anomaly checks, refresh
monitoring, metric certification).
• Develop within Microsoft Fabric using relevant components (e.g., notebooks, Dataflows
Gen2, pipelines, Lakehouse/Warehouse, semantic models) as applicable.
• Leverage Microsoft Copilot and AI tools (e.g., Copilot for Power BI/Fabric/M365 and other
approved assistants) to:
• accelerate SQL/DAX generation and refactoring,
• speed up dashboard prototyping and narrative insights,
• draft documentation and data dictionaries,
• support stakeholder Q&A and self-service enablement,
while ensuring correctness through testing and peer/stakeholder validation.
• Communicate findings clearly, create concise executive narratives, and recommend
actions backed by data.
• Maintain documentation for metric definitions, logic, lineage, and operational runbooks to
support handoff.
Required Skills & Experience
• 7 - 10+ years in data analytics/BI/consulting (or equivalent senior-level experience).
• Advanced SQL expertise (CTEs, window functions, complex joins, query tuning).
• Strong experience with SQL Server (T-SQL) and performance optimization.
• Experience with Snowflake (warehouse concepts, optimization/cost awareness, security
basics).
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse concepts;
pipelines/dataflows/notebooks; semantic modeling).
• Strong dashboard development skills in Power BI (DAX, modeling, performance)
and Tableau.
• Proficiency in Python for analytics and automation.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-assisted tools productively with appropriate guardrails
(validation, privacy, reproducibility).
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and independent delivery skills.
Deliverables / Success Measures
• Reliable, documented KPI definitions and curated datasets used consistently across teams.
• High-performing, user-friendly dashboards in Power BI/Tableau with measurable adoption.
• Reduced manual reporting through automation and reusable analytics assets.
• Clear documentation and handoff materials enabling maintainability after contract
completion.
