Job description

Description:

Willis Klein Commercial is hiring an experienced Project Manager to manage commercial construction projects involving architectural openings, specialties, and electronic security systems.

This is a hands-on project management position for someone who understands construction documents, keeps projects moving, catches problems early, and takes ownership from turnover through closeout.

What You Will Do

Division 10 Projects

You will manage the full project process, including:

  • Review plans, specifications, estimates, and contract requirements
  • Detail Division 10 projects and confirm quantities, products, finishes, dimensions, and installation requirements
  • Prepare accurate product submittals
  • Track submittals and obtain signed or approved copies
  • Purchase and release material
  • Coordinate deliveries, installers, schedules, change orders, punch-list work, and closeout
  • Protect project margin by identifying scope changes and additional costs before work is performed

Division 10 products may include toilet partitions, toilet accessories, lockers, fire extinguisher cabinets, signage, wall protection, visual display products, and other commercial specialties.

Division 08 Projects

For Division 08 projects, detailing and initial submittals are completed by another team member. Once signed submittals are received, you will take ownership of the project and manage:

  • Purchasing and material releases
  • Doors, frames, hardware, and electrified-opening coordination
  • Project schedules and deliveries
  • General contractor, vendor, and installer communication
  • Change orders and additional work
  • Field issues, punch lists, billing support, and closeout

Division 28 Projects

You may also manage assigned access-control, electrified-hardware, video-surveillance, intercom, and related electronic-security projects. Responsibilities will vary based on project scope and experience.

What We Are Looking For

  • Commercial construction project management experience
  • Experience with Division 08, Division 10, Division 28, architectural hardware, specialties, or electronic security
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, schedules, elevations, and approved submittals
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects and changing deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with purchasing, vendors, installers, change orders, and project costs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PDF-markup software
  • Experience with Comsense, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar construction systems is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to visit job sites when required

What Success Looks Like

Successful Project Managers at WKC:

  • Keep projects organized and moving
  • Release the right products at the right time
  • Communicate before problems become emergencies
  • Protect project scope and gross margin
  • Document changes and recover additional costs
  • Hold vendors and installers accountable
  • Finish projects without loose ends
  • Take ownership instead of waiting to be reminded

Employment Type: Full-Time
Location:  Louisville, KY (in office position)
Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications
