What is a customer engineer?

Customer Engineers are technical professionals who provide support, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for a company's products or systems, often directly at customer sites. They act as a bridge between the company and its clients, ensuring that technical issues are resolved swiftly and customer satisfaction is maintained. Customer Engineers may work in various industries, such as IT, manufacturing, or electronics, and are often responsible for training clients on product usage. Their role requires strong technical knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to solve problems efficiently.

How does a customer engineer typically collaborate with sales and product teams to address client needs?

Customer Engineers play a crucial role in bridging the gap between clients and internal teams. They often join sales representatives during client meetings to provide technical expertise, clarify product capabilities, and address technical concerns in real time. Additionally, they work closely with product teams to relay customer feedback, suggest improvements, and stay updated on new features or releases. This collaboration ensures that customer requirements are met efficiently, and that both pre-sales and post-sales technical support are aligned with the company's offerings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a customer engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Customer Engineer, you need a strong background in technical troubleshooting, systems integration, and relevant industry knowledge, often supported by a degree in computer science or engineering. Familiarity with operating systems, cloud platforms, networking tools, and certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco are typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication, and customer service skills distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies ensure you can effectively resolve complex technical issues while delivering a positive client experience.

What is the difference between Customer Engineer vs Technical Support Engineer?

About the Role:

As a Customer Engineer, APAC at Cresta, you'll play a key role in delivering our cutting-edge AI solutions to enterprise contact centers across the Asia-Pacific region. You'll combine strong software engineering skills with expertise in customer experience, contact center infrastructure, cloud technologies, chat and voice platforms, and automation to help customers successfully deploy and scale Creta.

Working closely with Solution Architects, Implementation Managers, Customer Success Managers, and Engineering, you'll own the technical execution of customer integrations and help ensure Creta works seamlessly within complex enterprise environments.

You’ll partner directly with technical stakeholders across APAC, navigating different customer environments, business requirements, and deployment needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on technically while also building trusted relationships with customers.

As Cresta continues to grow across APAC, you'll also help identify opportunities to expand the value we deliver within existing customers and shape how we scale our technical customer engagement in the region.

Join our team of AI and ML experts and help transform the future of work with Creta's innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute integration designs and project plans developed in partnership with Implementation Managers, Solution Architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Design, build, and deploy applications using Cresta SDKs, libraries, and APIs.
  • Integrate Cresta solutions with enterprise contact center voice, chat, and digital platforms.
  • Develop and maintain integrations using technologies including Go, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Participate in testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of Creta products and customer integrations.
  • Partner with Customer Success Managers to triage and resolve technical issues, collaborating closely with Creta Engineering when deeper product or platform expertise is required.
  • Build strong relationships with customer technical stakeholders and serve as a trusted technical partner throughout implementation and expansion.
  • Manage multiple customer projects and technical workstreams simultaneously.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify integrations, improve customer outcomes, and expand Creta's impact within customer environments.
  • Collaborate across teams and geographies to share learnings and help develop scalable implementation practices for APAC.
Qualifications We Value:
  • Strong software engineering skills, with hands-on experience in Go, Python, and/or JavaScript.
  • Experience using APIs and SDKs to build integrations and value-added solutions.
  • Experience with AWS and Git.
  • Experience with contact center and customer experience technologies such as Amazon Connect, Genesys, Five9, NICE, Salesforce, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers and complex technical environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and third-party systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for different audiences.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with external technical stakeholders and take a consultative, strategic approach to solving customer problems.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment and managing multiple priorities.
  • A think big, deliver simple mindset—you can navigate complexity while creating practical solutions for customers.
  • Comfortable collaborating with distributed teams and customers across multiple APAC markets and time zones.

Perks & Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive and people-first benefits package to support you at work and in life:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with plans to fit you and your family
  • Paid parental leave for all new parents welcoming a new child
  • Remote work setup budget to help you create a productive home office
  • Monthly wellness and communication stipend to keep you connected and balanced
  • 20 days of vacation time to promote a healthy work-life blend
Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation for this position includes a competitive base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. Actual compensation will be based on candidate-specific factors, including experience, skill set, and location, as well as applicable local compensation and employment requirements.

Benefits and employment terms may vary by country. Your recruiter can provide additional details for the specific APAC location in which you are being considered.
