SAP America, Inc. seeks aย Development Manager at ourย Naperville, ILย locationย responsible for management of individuals and teams in the design, implementation, and maintenance of modules or features orย a product.ย ย 

Expectations and Tasks:ย ย 

Provides application implementation services typically within the boundaries of specifications and project plans. Design activities includeย requirementsย analysis and design documentation. Implementation activities include implementation,ย testingย and integration. Maintenance activities include error analysis and removal. Usually extends,ย modifiesย or adapts existing designs but may also be involved in the development of new (sub-) systems. Set clear goals with team members, inspire them, and support them towardsย accomplishingย theseย goalsย and evaluate goal achievement. Actively acting as coach and mentor to help with personal development. Conducts deliverable reviews, providing performance feedback whileย establishingย a safe space for developers to effectively learn and grow. Contribute to change management and drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement within the engineering team. Clarify implementation approach and plan execution with the engineering team. Partners with Product Management and User Experience to translate the overall outcome-based roadmap and vision into a product backlog and prioritization understandable to the development team. Perform hands-on technical tasks and responsibilities in addition to team management, coaching, and development. Ensure product requirements, as well as non-functionalย requirementsย are built, tested, andย maintained. Own technical leadership andย decide onย how the product is implemented. Owns the technology decisions and resource investments (framework/architecture/tooling, etc.). Ensure complianceย ofย software development processes with relevant standards, regulations, and legal requirements. Manage 3rd party contractors and supplier management for engineering.ย Identifyย and address potential delivery risks that mayย impact onย the success of the product. Attend Agile Team ceremonies. Ensure supportability of theย productย e.g.ย telemetry, performance, health checkย monitoringย and customer feedback channels. Ensure service quality is continuously driven viaย e.g.ย root cause analysis and preventive actions.ย Drive adherence to support metrics and ensure 24/7 support (e.g. Manager on Duty, Developer on Duty role).ย 

Education and Occupational Experience:ย ย 

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronicย Engineering, orย a related field of studyย andย seven (7)ย yearsย ofย progressive post-baccalaureateย experience in the job offered or related occupation.ย Alternatively, aย Master'sย degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronicย Engineering, orย a related field of studyย andย five (5)ย years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.ย 

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:ย ย 

Experience must includeย five (5)ย years involving each of the following:ย 

  • Building design specifications from requirements;ย 

  • Performing impact analysis and designing,ย buildingย and testing features of applications;ย 

  • Mentoring and leading Team Members;ย 

  • DevOps responsibilities;ย 

  • Java, Web services, Struts, Spring, Java Script,ย JQuery, and Tomcat; andย

SAPย providesย the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position isย $195,500 - $332,300. The actualย amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. asย determinedย through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollarย amountย and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
