NEW Pay: $28/hr.

Location: 5168 Ezell Rd., Graceville, FL., 32440

Status: Full Time, Monday – Friday

The Graceville Correctional Facility located in Graceville, FL., is now hiring educators to assist with making a difference in the lives of those on the inside.

Job responsibilities:  Instructors are responsible for providing instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula. Provide inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Correctional Education Association (CEA), Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and conduct classes for inmates in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED), life sills, cultural awareness, health education and special curriculum and other subjects selected to correspond with the ability and limitations of the class.
  • Prepare special teaching plans, courses, and activities and learning experiences appropriate for the specific inmates assigned.
  • Utilize appropriate audio and visual teaching materials individualized to the specific need of the inmate.
  • Administer individual educational tests and learning aptitude tests and use the results for prescriptive instruction.
  • Participate in staff conferences to develop and improve educational programs.
  • Counsel and advise inmates on academic problems.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, required. Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred. Valid teaching certificate from the Florida Department of education or comparable authority required. A valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
