JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Middle School Curriculum Coach

JOB GOAL:

To help ensure that teachers have knowledge of appropriate curriculum and expertise in teaching techniques, methods, and procedures necessary to help each student achieve academic proficiency.

RESPONSIBLE TO: School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS: An ACS curriculum coach shall have all the following minimum qualifications:

  1. A valid Alabama certificate in the area of administrative supervision or teacher leadership.
  2. A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  3. Knowledge of, and experience in, curriculum development.
  4. Experience in conducting workshops and teacher training.
  5. Excellent communication skills with an emphasis in best practices.
  6. Proficient in computer usage.
  7. Such alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
  8. Assist in the design and implementation of instructional-related staff development including new teacher orientation and in-service training.
  9. Serve as site leader, coach, and mentor.
  10. Coordinate with district curriculum coaches.
  11. Align ACS practices in coaching with coaching models.
  12. Support the principal-coach partnership and build a culture of coaching.
  13. Assist with school-wide testing programs.
  14. Assist with school based curricular programs including tutoring, intervention, PLCs, summer camp, and summer school.
  15. Assist in data collection and analysis. Proficiency in data analytics computer applications.
  16. Engage in ongoing learning opportunities to grow in knowledge, skills, and expertise in coaching.
  17. Be regular and punctual in attendance.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of any Board of Education related business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the evaluation, development, and improvement of course content, curriculum, and instructional activities.

Assume other responsibilities and duties that might be reasonably assigned by the principal.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten Months

SALARY RANGE: Appropriate placement on current salary schedule

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of Board policy, teacher evaluations, and program fidelity checks
