Position Summary
This is an hourly part-time teaching position with responsibility for planning, preparation, and presentation of quality instruction and for otherwise contributing to the fulfillment of the College's mission. This position reports to the Program Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide instruction in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program and evaluate student learning and outcomes.
  2. Perform class and/or laboratory preparation.
  3. Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and recommend new or revised curriculum as needed.
  4. Revise lecture notes and course materials to ensure currency and compliance with departmental, divisional, and/or college formats or guidelines.
  5. Participate in the regular evaluation of the MLT Program, including self-studies and other activities to document program status.
  6. Promote effective working relationships among MLT Program faculty.
  7. Follow institutional policies and procedures and fulfill the terms of one's employment.
  8. Maintain professional competency in MLT
  9. Adhere to accrediting agency requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Current knowledge in one's area of responsibility
  2. A commitment to teaching and helping students develop an abiding interest in their field and desire to help the college maintain the standards appropriate to an institution of higher education
  3. Ability to maintain rapport with colleagues and students and to conduct themselves with a high level of professionalism

Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree or equivalent acceptable to accreditation agency required
Experience: Minimum of three years of full-time experience as a clinical or medical laboratory practitioner required. Experience in course development and in student instruction, supervision, evaluation, guidance, and academic counseling preferred
Certification: Laboratory scientist who holds ASCP-BOC U.S. certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician required

Compensation is based on 19 hours per week. If not indicated, the hourly rate will be determined by the supervisor.
