Daikin Applied is seeking anHVAC Technical Instructor II who will be responsible for designing, delivering, and managing advanced technical training programs for HVAC professionals. Curriculum development, instructional delivery, and program evaluation. Mentoring peers, shaping curriculum, and collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, product development, and field service teams. What you will do:

Technical Instruction & Facilitation

  • Designs and delivers advanced technical training for HVAC professionals, including internal staff and external partners.
  • Facilitates instructor-led (ILT) and virtual instructor-led (VILT) sessions on topics such as commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting centrifugal, rotary screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers, air handling units, cooling towers, pumps, and control systems (DDC and pneumatic)
  • Adapting instructional methods to learner needs and business goals
  • Develops multimedia learning assets including videos, eLearning modules, and simulations
  • Provides mentorship and coaching to junior instructors, ensuring instructional consistency and technical accuracy

Subject Matter Expertise & Curriculum Development

  • Serves as a technical authority in HVAC systems, contributing expert insight to instructional design teams
  • Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to identify performance gaps and design targeted learning solutions
  • Reviews and validates technical content for accuracy, relevance, and alignment with evolving industry standards
  • Participates in product development cycles, offering field-based feedback and customer insights to engineering and R&D teams

Program Management & Strategic Oversight

  • Leads the end-to-end management of learning programs across multiple modalities (ILT, VILT, blended, curated pathways)
  • Partners with internal stakeholders, vendors, and SMEs to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Oversees logistics, budgeting, communications, and learner engagement strategies in collaboration with training administrators
  • Evaluates program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative metrics; recommends improvements based on data analysis
  • Prioritizing initiatives, allocating resources, and resolving instructional challenges

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience in HVAC or related technical field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in HVAC service, technical instruction, or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in servicing and troubleshooting complex HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units, and control systems
  • Experience delivering technical training in instructor-led (ILT) and virtual (VILT) formats
  • Proven ability to design and adapt curriculum based on learner needs and business objectives
  • History of collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product knowledge and customer satisfaction
  • Experience mentoring peers or junior staff in technical subject matter and instructional techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units, control systems, and refrigeration cycles
  • Strong facilitation and instructional delivery skills across ILT, VILT, and blended formats
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in curriculum design, learner engagement, and program evaluation
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), virtual platforms, and instructional technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to mentor and coach peers in technical instruction and classroom management
  • Up to 35% travel required for onsite training and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to lift and transport training equipment up to 50 lbs. Frequent handling of manuals and materials up to 35 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: EPA 608 Universal, NATE, HVAC Excellence
  • Technical school training in HVAC systems and controls
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HVAC service, technical instruction, or training program leadership
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering advanced training programs for complex HVAC systems across multiple modalities (ILT, VILT, blended)
  • Experience leading strategic learning initiatives that align with business goals and drive measurable performance improvements
  • Prior collaboration with engineering, product development, and field service teams to integrate technical training with product innovation and customer feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop instructional staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Experience working within a corporate learning environment or technical institute with a focus on adult education and workforce development
  • Expertise in adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies
  • Experience with curriculum development tools such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with HVAC regulatory standards and codes (ASHRAE, ANSI, EPA)
  • Ability to analyze learning metrics and translate data into actionable insights
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, product development, and field service teams
  • Knowledge of emerging HVAC technologies, including IoT-enabled systems and smart controls
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic training initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $48.46-$65.77 per hourin MN. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls.
