Job description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow established rules and regulations; maintain a safe, clean working environment.
  • Daily supervision & mentorship of Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program participants in the evaluation/identity of pest infestations; methods of treatment and preventative measures.
  • Organize, file and maintain daily records
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of residential/commercial service calls.
  • Assist in the planning & coordination of on the job and learning lab activities
  • Assist in the assessment/evaluation of Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program participants
  • Assist in the development & execution of on the job learning in accordance to the Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program curriculum
  • Assist with ordering & maintenance of material, tools, and safety equipment.
  • Assist with the implementation, delivery, and execution of the Exterminator course curriculum.
  • Assist with the evaluation and grading of apprenticeship program participants.
  • Assist in the creation of project plans; materials, quotes, budgets, timelines
  • Effectively integrate technology and sustainable pest control practices into the apprenticeship learning environment.
  • Proper deployment of chemical solutions, powders, gasses, traps, baits.
  • Insure adherence to US Department of Labor Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Attend required meetings/trainings as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold an Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicator License and Certification.
  • Category 7A - General Household Pest Management
  • Category 7B - Termite Control
  • Category 7C - Fumigation
  • Category 7D - Community Insect Management
  • Category 7E - Wood Preservatives
  • Category 8 - Public Health Pest Control
  • Minimum of 3 years as a practicing licensed exterminator
  • Minimum of 2 years on the job supervisory experience.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge and proficiency with office and contractor computer programs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Hold a current or willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

SUPERVISION:

  • Direct supervision by the Lead Pest Control Instructor/Apprenticeship Director
