Tucker House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is launching an innovative Asian Cultural Program designed to provide culturally focused care and services to Chinese and Asian residents and their families. We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and bilingual professional to serve as the Program Director and Liaison for this exciting new initiative.

This individual will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment, building community relationships, supporting residents and families, and helping grow the program.

Position Summary

The Asian Cultural Program Director will serve as the primary liaison between participating residents, families, community partners, and Tucker House. This position will help ensure residents receive culturally responsive support while promoting meaningful engagement, activities, and community involvement.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese preferred), have strong interpersonal skills, and possess a passion for working with older adults.

ResponsibilitiesResident & Family Support
  • Serve as a liaison between residents, families, and the facility

  • Assist residents and families with communication and navigation of services

  • Provide translation and interpretation support as needed

  • Advocate for resident preferences and cultural needs

  • Help facilitate family meetings and discussions

Program Development & Activities
  • Develop and coordinate culturally focused activities and events

  • Organize holiday celebrations and cultural programs

  • Coordinate educational presentations and guest speakers

  • Facilitate games, social activities, and group programs

  • Assist with planning and implementation of special events

Community Outreach
  • Build relationships with Chinatown organizations and community leaders

  • Develop partnerships with local businesses, cultural organizations, and healthcare providers

  • Participate in community events and outreach initiatives

  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the program

  • Support census growth efforts through community engagement

Cultural Support
  • Assist departments in understanding resident cultural preferences

  • Provide guidance regarding cultural customs and traditions

  • Help identify opportunities to enhance the resident experience

  • Support implementation of culturally focused dining and recreational programming

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain activity and outreach records

  • Track community engagement efforts

  • Collaborate with Admissions, Social Services, Activities, Nursing, and Administration

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings related to the program

QualificationsRequired
  • Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Passion for serving older adults and diverse communities

Preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, senior living, social services, recreation, hospitality, or community outreach

  • Experience working with Asian communities

  • Translation or interpretation experience

  • Event planning or program coordination experience

  • Marketing or community relations experience
