Job description

MUSLIM COMMUNITY NETWORK

450 Lexington Ave, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10017

Finance & Operations Coordinator

Full-Time Hybrid New York, NY

About MCN

Muslim Community Network (MCN) empowers the Muslim community across all five boroughs of New York City through civic education, advocacy, community empowerment, and direct service. We're working to reshape what it means to be Muslim in America, helping people show up fully in the democratic process, get their voices heard, and access the resources they need to thrive.

Community empowerment sits at the center of everything we do. We build leaders, not just programs, because a community that can advocate for itself, address its own challenges, and celebrate its own heritage is a community built to last.

The Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented Finance & Operations Coordinator to help keep MCN's financial and operational engine running smoothly. Reporting to the Finance, HR, and Operations Manager, you'll support budgeting, grant reporting, contract compliance, and the day-to-day administrative work that lets our programs, from Know Your Rights training to the DOVE domestic violence program to our Halal Food Access initiative, actually happen.

This isn't just data entry. Every invoice tracked and every grant report filed directly supports services reaching 8,000 New Yorkers a year. If you're organized, love a well-built spreadsheet, and want your finance skills to mean something, this is a great fit.

What You'll Do

Finance & Budgeting

  • Track expenses, maintain clean records, and organize supporting documentation
  • Support budget monitoring, updates, and planning across programs
  • Help prepare financial and grant reports for funders, leadership, and program teams

Contracts & Grant Compliance

  • Keep contracts, grants, purchase orders, invoices, and financial records organized and audit-ready
  • Track grant spending against approved budgets and funding requirements
  • Monitor contract deliverables and reporting deadlines so nothing slips
  • Maintain equipment and asset inventory
  • Help ensure MCN stays compliant with internal financial procedures and grant guidelines

Operations & Team Support

  • Jump in on organization-wide initiatives and special projects as needed
  • Train and support interns working alongside the finance and admin team
  • Help build a collaborative, learning-focused team culture
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in nonprofit finance, budgeting, grant reporting, or CBO operations
  • Experience with city, state, or government-funded grants strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills: pivot tables, formulas, budget tracking, financial reporting, Salesforce, Bill.com, Expensify.
  • Sharp attention to detail, plus the organizational chops to manage contracts, invoices, and confidential information with discretion
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Work Environment

This is a hybrid role based in New York City with three days in person and the remaining days remote to complete a maximum of 40 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Growth and Learning Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to grow in nonprofit finance, budgeting, grant reporting, and operations while gaining hands-on experience with city and state-funded programs.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary

$60,000 annually

Health Coverage

100% employer-paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance

Retirement

401(k) with 2% employer match

Time Off

15 accrued vacation days and 15 accrued sick days per year

Wellness

2 dedicated Mental Health Days per year

Schedule

Hybrid: 3 days in office, flexible hours between 9 AM and 6 PM
