Job description

Are you passionate about operational excellence, creative workflows, and building systems that help teams perform at a high level? We are looking for a Director of Content and Creative Operations to be part of our Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) team. HSE Studios is comprised of Creative Services, Social Media, and Video Production teams that collectively support the planning, production, and execution of creative and content initiatives across the organization. This role is focused on leading creative operations, project management, workflow optimization, resource allocation, and cross-functional alignment to help scale how HSE Studios operates and delivers work across all platforms and audience touchpoints.
This role will oversee key operational team members, including a Project Manager and Digital Asset Manager, while helping unify processes, communication, asset governance, production planning, and workflow efficiencies across Social Media, Creative Services, and Video Production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead operational oversight and cross-functional coordination for HSE Studios, including Creative Services, Social Media, and Video Production teams.
  • Serve as the strategic liaison between department leadership, creative teams, and organizational stakeholders to drive alignment, timelines, prioritization, and successful execution of initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Lead and mentor direct reports, including a Project Manager and Digital Asset Manager, establishing clear priorities, workflows, accountability, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support departmental budget oversight and lead project-related meetings, resource planning, and key workflow functions as needed.
  • Define project scopes, production timelines, operational priorities, and staffing considerations across all project types.
  • Provide up-to-date reporting of project statuses, team capacity, and organizational priorities, ensuring creative and content needs are fulfilled in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact and manage vendor relationships for productions, campaigns, shoots, installations, and creative initiatives of all sizes.
  • Develop and optimize operational systems, workflows, and communication processes that promote collaboration, scalability, accountability, and efficiencies across HSE Studios.
  • Oversee digital asset management operations, including asset organization, metadata governance, tagging standards, archive processes, accessibility, rights management coordination, and long-term content stewardship across departments.
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve creative intake, production planning, prioritization, asset tracking, approvals, and workflow scalability across the organization.
  • Attend and lead cross-departmental collaborations with Marketing, Partnerships, Digital, Brand, Content, and Production stakeholders to define how HSE Studios will support and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Provide detailed recaps and lists of clearly-defined action items after internal and cross-departmental meetings.
  • Periodically attend game nights, shoots, and event activations to observe operations and identify opportunities to enhance the HSE brand and fan experience.
  • Help establish operational standards and best practices that strengthen consistency, efficiency, and creative excellence across all HSE Studios outputs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Project Management, Operations Management, or a related business field from an accredited college or university.
  • 8+ years of experience in creative operations, content operations, project management, production management, or related fields within sports, entertainment, media, agency, or brand environments.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring team members and leading cross-functional creative or production operations required.
  • Adobe Workfront experience is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management systems, reporting tools, production workflows, and digital asset management platforms.
  • Experience establishing metadata standards, taxonomy structures, asset governance processes, and scalable content operations preferred.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, planning, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to create and adhere to structure and process.
  • Strong understanding of creative production principles, content workflows, and technical production processes across digital, social, print, video, and experiential platforms.
  • Confident vendor, production, and partner management experience required.
  • Ability to shape research, data, operational insights, and organizational needs into strategic recommendations and workflow solutions.
  • Ability to navigate, understand and utilize team databases and operational systems.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.
  • Awareness of trends specific to the sports and entertainment industry, standards in design, photography, social media, content production, and advertising.
  • Strong knowledge of sports marketing, audience engagement, and revenue-generation principles, methods, and strategies is required.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball culture required. Knowledge of Hornets brand is a bonus.
  • Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - listens to others, works well in a team environment, and effectively leads collaborative partnerships.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools to support workflow efficiency, content operations, and production planning is a plus.
