Event Creative Specialist
Reports to Events Director
Word on Fire Catholic Ministries is a nonprofit global media apostolate that supports the work of Bishop Robert Barron and reaches millions of people to draw them into-or back to-the Catholic faith.
The Event Creative Specialist contributes to the creative function of the event team and reports to the Events Director. The Event Creative Specialist develops creative concepts and narratives for experiential events that are missionary focused and culturally resonant, driven by data. As a strong copywriter, this individual is also responsible for the execution of these narratives across all communication channels-including emails, websites, and social media-to ensure integrity and fidelity to the story.

Responsibilities
  • Identify emerging topics, conversation threads, subject matter experts and experiential formats through deep research and social listening
  • Distill extensive research into key insights, clearly framing and presenting findings to inform event strategy, and translating those insights into actionable execution plans
  • Create compelling creative briefs working in partnership with creative teams and channel owners
  • Storyteller at heart with the ability to design narrative tools i.e. experiential narrative arcs, golden threads, content strategy blueprints, campaign and messaging frameworks and speaker outlines
  • Serve as the key copywriter on the event team, working in conjunction with creative teams and channel owners to ensure the integrity and fidelity of the event narrative
  • Research, identify and evaluate subject matter experts/speakers who can bring value to the event narrative and influencers/content creators who can amplify the narrative and expand the ministry's reach and impact
  • Work in partnership with the Events Director to produce post-event reports that measure the effectiveness of the narrative and strategy to refine future events
  • Develop processes to track the long-term impact of the ministry's events, focusing on mission ROI

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in event management, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience in experiential marketing/strategy/integrated marketing
  • Able to perform independent research, discerning between reputable and non-reputable sources to gather "subject matter" intelligence
  • Deeply curious and attuned to the culture, a relentless "why-finder" with a track record of uncovering the connections between data, logic, and emotion through extensive investigative research
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills and critical thinking, with a focus on proactiveness
  • Strong copywriter with excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure
  • Adept with basic computer skills such as: Google Docs, PowerPoint, Sheets or Excel, and email
  • Willingness to work occasional flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
  • Travel requirement approximately 1-2 times per quarter
  • Committed to the mission of Word on Fire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church and its teachings
  • Familiarity with the work of Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment which involves frequent repetitive motions of the hands and wrists
  • Ability to work in an open-office environment with moderate noise levels (e.g., computers, printers, conversations/calls, and light traffic)
  • Must be able to inspect documents, view computer screens for extended periods, and navigate software interfaces to perform duties as assigned
  • Frequent communications with internal and external partners; must be able to exchange accurate information, requiring clear speech and the ability to hear or understand verbal communication
  • Ability to lift and transport various materials weighing up to 25 pounds

Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $60,000 - $73,000 annually. Word on Fire determines individual compensation on several factors, including but not limited to, experience, skills, alignment with the role's responsibilities, and geographic location. This role may be eligible for annual merit increases based on individual performance.
