Job description

SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to perform all equipment and facilities related electrical, mechanical, sheet metal, welding, instrument, and pipe fitting work. Utilizes process and maintenance knowledge to assist in the planning and performance of all tasks. Provides leadership and training for other maintenance department employees in the performance of their duties.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Specify, order or otherwise procure the necessary materials and equipment to be utilized on various jobs.
  • Participates in electrical , mechanical, PLC, computer, alignment, vibration analysis, etc. for all maintenance crafts.
  • Assist with training other craft employees.
  • Performs any type of electric arc and acetylene welding and cutting assignments using generally accepted welding and cutting procedures (includes soldering, brazing, inert gas welding, etc.)
  • Must be proficient in the safe use of all machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools and precision instruments.
  • Perform regular fire and safety inspection and issues reports.
  • Circuit or logic modifications.
  • Transformers, medium voltage motor starters, motor control center (MCC) structures (main breaker & bus), interlocked armour cables, large circuit breakers main disconnects, furnace power regulators, furnace firing transformers, 480/277 volt lighting distribution panels, etc.
  • Conduit, wiring, or electrical equipment installation - (except for replacement of damaged flexible conduit and re-securing conduit mountings).
  • Repair, replacement, checkout, or troubleshooting of Burner control systems including ANY system requiring flame safety supervisory controls such as asphalt booster heater, HVAC boiler, oven zone burners, incinerator burners, large Hartzell heaters.
  • Repair or replacement of facility lighting fixtures (in and out of doors locations)
  • Repair, replacement, or troubleshooting in PLCs (programmable logic controllers).
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Regular Attendance on site and ability to rotate to varying shifts
  • All other duties as assigned or needed

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee should hold the following abilities:
  • Provide verifiable and sustained authorization to work in the United States
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Electrical
  • Basic PLC
  • Hydraulic
  • Pneumatics
  • Basic Blueprint & Schematic reading
  • Proficient in SAP PM Module

The employee must be able to:
  • Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
  • High School or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must be able to learn and demonstrate proficiency in the responsibilities of this position.

Experience:
  • Preferably five (5) years in a related maintenance trade or occupation that involved electrical, hydraulic machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate trouble-shooting techniques and have a basic understanding of blueprints.
  • Basic ability and knowledge of welding practices and hydraulic circuitry.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical circuitry.
  • Basic PLC knowledge.
  • Must have the ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision with drive toward accomplishment, and to produce high quality work.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
  • Able to work at elevated heights
  • Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for several hours
  • Ability to stand for 8 - 12 hours straight
  • Able to climb and descend stairs, scaffolding, and ladders for up to 12 hours repetitively
  • Lift and push and pull 40lbs. More than 50 times per day
  • Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
  • Exposure to temperature extremes
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Bending and twisting
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or control
  • Repetitive movements
