QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Experience in the craftsman trade, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training that demonstrates desired knowledge, skills and abilities
  3. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona State Driver's License
  4. Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
  5. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures of the trades.
  2. Knowledge of accepted industry practices and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades, such as OSHA.
  3. Knowledge of modern equipment, tools, and materials used in preventative maintenance.
  4. Ability to safely use job-related tools and operate all types of district vehicles.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  6. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  7. Ability to understand and follow a work schedule and written directions.
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  9. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  10. Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  11. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  12. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Coordinate essential functions with and assist other trade personnel such as HVAC techs, building maintenance workers, plumbers, carpenters, and others.
  2. Perform minor repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on items, systems, and/or components to ensure items are available and in safe and operable condition.
  3. Implement preventive maintenance programs, including equipment, tools, rotating supplies, and other provisions.
  4. Perform safety inspections and recommend repair or replacement actions to the supervisor.
  5. Prepare reports on the condition of equipment and other aspects of the trade.
  6. Respond to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns related to job duties.
  7. Operate hand and power tools as needed in the performance of duties.
  8. Prepare and maintain records to document work and repairs as requested.
  9. Transport work-related equipment and supplies to job site as required to complete tasks.
  10. Drive district vehicles in the performance of assigned duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds. The employee may ascend/descend ladders and walk and/or stand for extended periods. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is indoors and outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with staff, students and public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Craft's Assistant reports to the Assistant Director. The Craft's Assistant will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN: Starting at $17.65 per hour
WORK YEAR: 12 Months/8 hours
