Job Description

The Craft Recruiter is responsible for assisting in all recruitment efforts of Skilled Trades/Craft candidates for DPR Construction across a national footprint. This role will entail close interactions with field operations, hiring managers and support groups to identify hiring needs and provide guidance with solutions related to recruitment. The Craft Recruiter will be responsible to execute full life cycle craft recruiting and employment activities. Tasks will include but are not limited to creating and managing requisitions including: assess job specification criteria, identify screening questions and skills testing, determine candidate interview approach. Interview potential candidates as well as gather and consolidate feedback from interview team, and negotiate job offer details with candidates. Craft Recruiter must identify and stay current on market trends in the marketplace that impact ability to support project staffing. This role would focus on construction, electrical, prefab, modular, manufacturing, driver and warehouse craft related roles.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Open and create requisitions in Workday as requested by leadership and/or hiring managers
  • Perform phone and in-person screening of applicants, assessment of their skill level/fit for roles and route appropriately
  • Execute the full recruitment and hiring process from candidate sourcing, interview coordination, extending offer and assisting with candidate onboarding process
  • Build and maintain relationships with local & national resources to help develop a pipeline of craft candidates
  • Schedule interviews and logistics and track and escalate issues as needed
  • Collaborate with Craft Recruiting Manager to develop recruiting strategies
  • Responsible for managing multiple requisitions and projects at a time
  • Build and maintain relationships with active, passive and past candidates and referrals
  • Build strong relationships with project management teams to fully understand their needs and expectations for staffing
  • Work with hiring managers and recruiting teams to assist with the execution of all staffing plans and develop recruiting strategies. Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the entire hiring process from sourcing to onboarding
  • Attract quality craft candidates through a variety of methods including internet, social media, job boards, cold calling, data mining, networking, employee referrals and job fairs/events
  • Assist with organizing local and regional networking/hiring events including job fairs, schools, trade shows, speaking engagements, military events, student career events, etc
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal team members to develop trust and a collaborative atmosphere
  • Create and maintain updated job descriptions, interview guides, and other relevant interview materials for craft candidates
  • Utilize applicant tracking systems to maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on all candidates, hiring manager interactions, and other recruiting activities
  • Assist with DPR Family of Companies recruiting and initiatives as requested
  • Commit to and embody DPR's Core Values of Integrity, Enjoyment, Uniqueness, and Ever Forward
  • Observe legal compliance requirements within the talent acquisition process and work with Talent Partners and Human Resources Departments
  • Assist on regular and special projects within and outside of recruiting as needed
  • Process recruiting reports as requested utilizing the applicable software/technology
  • Attend weekly and monthly staffing meetings with Operations and Field Leadership
  • Work with Craft Coordinators to coordinate all things craft and to enhance the overall craft candidate and employee experience
  • Willing to travel to job sites and Business Unit offices as needed to support craft recruiting and training initiatives within the region

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of full life cycle construction craft/skilled trades recruitment experience
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) both written and oral highly strongly preferred
  • Degree and/or relevant certifications a plus. High School Diploma/GED required
  • Ability and passion to recruit and build pipelines for craft positions on a regional and national level. Experience posting jobs, sourcing candidates, resume searches, cold calling, etc
  • Prior experience coordinating, leading and planning job fairs and career events and building relationships with technical and other schools/programs
  • Must be willing to travel as needed throughout area of responsibility
  • Experience working in an ATS (Workday) and properly tracking candidate progress throughout the candidate experience. Knowledge of data mining, Boolean searches, etc
  • Must be able to influence without authority and be candidate centric in a shared leadership environment
  • Ability to manage recruiting resources and financial impacts of day to day recruiting activities
  • Maintain confidential information and selection decision details
  • Well versed in the construction industry and DPR's competitors
  • Willingness to participate and maintain continued industry and organizational involvement with various sources and networks
  • Ability to recruit for craft positions throughout your region and multiple project/office sites
  • Ability to prioritize recruiting needs, communicate with all levels, and change direction as needed and accept constructive feedback on a regular basis
  • Proficient in MS Office Programs, Applicant Tracking Systems, and other related HRIS Systems. Prior experience with Workday, Power BI, Monday.com, CMIC and Smartsheets is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills needed including both written and verbal
  • Positive attitude and organizational skills are required
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to perform duties outside of your scope of work when necessary
  • High level of creativity, motivation, and professionalism combined with ability to think independently and take initiative to proactively solve problems
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned
