Are you looking for a new challenge? For our location Charleston we are looking for a(n) Multi-Craft Technician.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Multi-Craft Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across multiple trades, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of equipment and facilities by troubleshooting issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and responding to emergencies. The position requires hands-on technical expertise in diagnosing problems, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing specialized process equipment.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, reactors, heat exchangers, valves, piping, and rotating machinery used in polysilicon production.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset life.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes, and perform corrective actions, including replacing or repairing defective parts.
  • Coordinate with area planners and gatekeepers to ensure work requests are incorporated into the weekly maintenance schedule.
  • Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and provide technical guidance to resolve complex production issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and EHS teams to support operational goals, process improvements, and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in the plant's maintenance management system. Collaborate with operations, engineering, and other maintenance teams to support plant projects, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, especially in hazardous chemical environments.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Industrial Maintenance or mechanical system applications, preferably in a chemical plant, refinery or large process plant.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, hydraulics, pneumatics) and electrical systems (wiring, controls, PLCs, VFDs) used in polysilicon production.
  • Experience with hazardous materials, high-purity systems, and process safety management is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using (SAP) software.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads, and coordinate a team of mechanical and electrical maintenance technicians supporting polysilicon production operations.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of maintenance work orders, prioritizing critical process equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on plant systems, including reactors, vacuum pumps, compressors, gas handling systems, motors, and control panels.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs specific to polysilicon manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maximize process reliability.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies, with a focus on hazardous materials and high-purity process requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory using SAP.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and EHS teams to support operational goals, process improvements, Spirit entries and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Train technicians on new equipment, procedures, and safety protocols, including handling of hazardous gases and chemicals.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide technical guidance to resolve complex issues affecting production.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance processes, equipment upgrades, and cost-saving initiatives, with an emphasis on reliability and process safety.
