Job Description

The Global Industry Consultant (IC) serves as a manufacturing technology strategist and trusted advisor to global CPG customers. You will combine expertise in industrial operations, automation, digital transformation, and OT/IT convergence to help manufacturers modernize production systems, improve operational performance, and accelerate their journey toward autonomous operations. You will bring firsthand experience working within manufacturing environments. You will possess a strong understanding of how various technologies come together to drive business outcomes on the plant floor, including industrial automation, manufacturing execution systems, industrial data platforms, edge computing, cloud technologies, AI-enabled applications, and connected worker solutions. This is not a traditional business consulting or enterprise IT role. Success in this position requires extensive experience supporting manufacturing operations, production systems, industrial automation initiatives, and digital manufacturing programs. This remote role will report to the Director of Global Industry Consulting for CPG.

Your Responsibilities:Manufacturing Digital Transformation Leadership
  • Guide global manufacturers in defining and executing digital transformation strategies focused on production, quality, maintenance, sustainability, and workforce productivity.
  • Help customers establish roadmaps connecting operational technology (OT), industrial data, edge platforms, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and AI capabilities.
  • Translate manufacturing challenges into scalable technical and operational solutions.
Smart Manufacturing & Industrial Architecture
  • Use your expertise in industrial automation systems, manufacturing operations, industrial networks, edge computing, industrial data platforms, and cloud architectures to shape customer transformation programs.
  • Develop reference architectures and use cases that connect plant floor systems to enterprise and cloud environments.
  • Provide guidance on industrial interoperability standards, data contextualization, and scalable industrial data strategies.
Executive and Operational Engagement
  • Engage plant leadership, operations leaders, engineering organizations, manufacturing excellence teams, and executive stakeholders to align technology investments with operational objectives.
  • Facilitate workshops focused on operational performance, digital operations, autonomous operations, industrial AI, and connected enterprise strategies.
  • Develop executive messaging and business value frameworks grounded in measurable manufacturing outcomes.
Industry Thought Leadership
  • Maintain expertise in emerging manufacturing technologies, industry standards, and digital manufacturing trends.
  • Represent Rockwell Automation in strategic discussions with customers, partners, industry organizations, and key influencers.
  • Contribute to industry-specific content, thought leadership, and strategic customer engagements.
Portfolio Strategy & Customer Advocacy
  • Be the voice of the customer by identifying capability gaps, emerging requirements, and evolving manufacturing trends.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Business Units, Marketing, and Sales to influence future portfolio direction.
  • Support qualification and prioritization of strategic opportunities aligned to CPG industry requirements.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience

  • The ability to travel 30-50% of the time to customers
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Typically requires 8+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations, process engineering, industrial automation, manufacturing systems, digital manufacturing, or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Direct experience within Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturing or manufacturing-focused system integration organizations. Demonstrated experience solving operational challenges in production environments.
  • A strong understanding of Industrial Automation and Control Systems. This includes PLC, SCADA, HMI, Historians, MES, OT, Industrial Networking, Industrial Data Platforms, Edge Computing, and Cloud-based Manufacturing Solutions.
  • Knowledge of ISA-95, Purdue Model, Industry 4.0 concepts, OPAF, CESMII, PackML, Weihenstephan, MQTT, OPC UA, Unified Namespace, or related manufacturing standards.
  • Understanding of manufacturing performance management, production systems, and operational improvement methodologies.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and strategic communication capabilities.
  • Experience bridging technical, operational, and business discussions.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation solutions including Logix, PlantPAx, FactoryTalk, Plex, Fiix, FactoryTalk Optix, FactoryTalk Hub, Industrial Data Fabric solutions, Analytics, Edge, and AI-related offerings.
  • Experience working with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or industrial cloud ecosystems in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience developing industrial architectures spanning plant floor, edge, and cloud.
  • Experience leading multi-site digital transformation programs.

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.

For this role, the Total Target Compensation is from $191,200.00 - 286,800.00 USD Annual of which 80% is base salary and 20% is variable. Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
