Job description

Virginia Eagle Distributing (VED) is one of Virginia's leading beverage distributors, delivering beer and non-alcoholic beverages to retailers across the Commonwealth. We're looking for a dependable, motivated Part-Time Merchandiser to join our Pulaski team working in the Blacksburg area - stocking shelves, building displays, rotating product, and making sure our brands look great at every account.
The route schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting at 4 am. This is a physical, active, out-in-the-field role - not a desk job. If you have a background in retail stocking, grocery merchandising, or consumer packaged goods (CPG), or you're looking for part-time hours in an active, hands-on role, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
  • Drive a company vehicle to assigned retail accounts on scheduled shifts and stock shelves, coolers, and display areas with VED products according to plan-o-gram and brand standards
  • Rotate product at every visit to ensure date compliance; pull and document any out-of-code or damaged items
  • Build and maintain point-of-sale displays, cold-box placements, and floor stacks to VED and supplier standards
  • Execute promotional programs, new item placements, and pricing as directed
  • Provide courteous, professional service to store staff at each account; communicate account needs and any issues to your Sales Representative or Relief Manager
  • Report shelf conditions, out-of-stocks, and competitive activity to your Sales Representative or Relief Manager
  • Complete required documentation and reports accurately and on time

What We're Looking For
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (subject to motor vehicle record check)
  • Ability to lift and carry 15-40+ lbs repeatedly throughout the shift, including overhead lifting, with frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and standing across multiple locations
  • Previous experience as a Merchandiser, retail stocker, grocery stocker, or in beverage or CPG distribution preferred - candidates from grocery, retail, or consumer goods backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Basic math skills and ability to verify case quantities
  • Comfortable operating a handheld scanning device and tablet for documentation
  • Reliable attendance for scheduled shifts, including weekend shifts where assigned
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing

What We Offer
  • Pay range $16.50 - $18.00 per hour. Starting pay for new hires is typically at or near the range minimum. Placement above the minimum is based on directly relevant industry experience and internal equity.
  • Hands-on retail merchandising experience
  • Uniforms provided
