POSITION DESCRIPTION

Rochester Division

 

 

 

Title:                    Shipping Supervisor

Reports to:         Plant Manager

Department:      Production

 

Position Purpose:

Responsible for directing activities of the shipping department and managing inventory.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

  • Follow established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
  • Maintain high level of housekeeping in the warehouse and shipping department
  • Correspond directly with customers and sales
  • Monitor shipping schedule. Member of the planning team
  • Maintain filing system
  • Process customer pickups as required
  • Collaborate, consult and communicate with other supervisors on all shifts
  • Administer the truck scheduling system 
  • Develop delivery schedules for all orders
  • Recommend changes for improvements in efficiency and performance
  • Schedule dock appointments with customers as needed
  • Compile a daily performance report and distribute
  • Responsible meeting operational budget including all shipping related costs (Freight, Pallets....)
  • Contact and schedule outside carriers as required
  • Assist in warehouse as needed
  • Spot trailers as needed
  • Reconcile daily shipping log
  • Ensure prompt, accurate loading and shipping of finished product for customers
  • Monitor all job functions to match quality and safety policies
  • Ensure prompt and accurate execution of all job functions
  • Ensure all projects are completed timely and accurately
  • Work from written and verbal directions
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area
  • Full-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting
  • Full inventory two times per year
  • Cycle counting inventory monthly
  • Maintain the aged inventory process
  • Responsible for the forklift fleet in shipping
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance and care of the yard horse
  • Attends profit projection meeting weekly

Skill Set:

  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Organizational skills
  • Forklift experience

Qualifications Desired:

  • 5 years of experience as a shipping supervisor or manager
  • Experience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred
  • High school diploma / GED
