Directs the forecasting, receipt, storage, and movement of all material goods. Through subordinate supervisors, coordinates with other departments to ensure the timely flow of materials within an established timeframe. Makes recommendations for process improvements and oversees freight bills to ensure cost-effectiveness. Develops and monitors inventory control systems to ensure adequate supply and sufficient movement of materials.

The Materials Manager position is responsible to manage all aspects ofmaterialsflow and to maintain control and accuracy over all materials, including all transactions, procurement, planning, scheduling, physical inventories, cycle counts, stocking levels and cost to ensure that Graver's inventory assets are protected at the Honeoye Falls, NY location. Identify processes and procedures that need improvement and facilitate the required changes.

Essential Functions:

Materials Planning & Inventory Control

  • Execute MRP planning activities and review supply requirements.
  • Establish and maintain safety stock levels, reorder points and planning parameters.
  • Monitor inventory turns, days on hand and inventory value.
  • Develop actions to reduce excess, obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
  • Ensure adequate material availability while minimizing working capital investment.
  • Lead cycle count programs and annual physical inventories and ensure they are completed on schedule.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

  • Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing personnel to ensure timely material availability.
  • Track supplier delivery, quality and responsiveness metrics.
  • Expedite critical materials and manage supplier recovery plans.
  • Support supplier selection, qualification and performance reviews.
  • Participate in cost reduction and sourcing initiatives.
  • Support Kanban, consignment and vendor managed inventory programs.

ERP/MRP System Ownership

  • Maintain ERP lead times and planning parameters.
  • Ensure data accuracy required for effective planning and purchasing decisions.
  • Develop inventory, delivery and planning KPI reports.
  • Analyze demand and supply data to identify risks and opportunities.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead PFEP, Kanban and pull-system initiatives.
  • Improve material flow through receiving, warehousing, production and shipping.
  • Participate in value stream mapping and continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce lead time, inventory and process waste.
  • Achieves any cost reduction goals that are assigned.

Cross Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality and Purchasing.
  • Support S&OP and demand planning processes.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes and product phase-outs.
  • Communicate supply chain risks and delivery issues to leadership.
  • Provide recommendations to improve customer delivery performance and operational efficiency.

Education

Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in production planning, materials management, inventory control, purchasing or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems required.
  • Experience with S&OP, forecasting and inventory management preferred.
  • APICS/ASCM certification preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kanban or PFEP experience preferred.
  • Industrial filtration, engineered products, or process manufacturing experience preferred.

Travel

  • Occasional travel to suppliers, customers and company locations as necessary. Estimated less than 10%.
