Job description:
Job Summary
MERJ Fleet Services has a full time tow truck operator position open for the right candidate with experience hooking heavy duty vehicles. Competitive compensation with company paid health and dental insurance and 401k match. This position will require on call coverage and rotating overnight on-call responsibilities to better serve our customers.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform towing for emergency breakdowns
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Recovery of wrecked vehicles
  • Make entries on reports and record entries on Towing & Repair Invoice
  • Work in a positive team focused environment
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Keep track of mileage during travel
  • Keep vehicles and workspace clean and organized
  • Be able to pass random drug & alcohol testing for random DOT regulations at any given time
  • Fill out DVIRs (start & end) and Driver Log (only after 100-mile radius)
  • Review all policies and procedures as stated in the company handbook
Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Commercial driver’s license class A with tow truck endorsement
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
  • Hand and power tools
  • Safe use of Rigging & lifting devices, use of cables, chains, hooks to safely raise, secure & pull loads of up to 100,000 lbs.
