Pleasantrees is seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions of one of Michigan's fastest-growing vertically integrated cannabis companies. This is more than a traditional Controller position. You'll partner directly with executive leadership to strengthen financial operations, improve profitability, enhance reporting accuracy, optimize inventory accounting, and build scalable financial processes that support continued expansion.

What You'll Do

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Corporate Controller will oversee all accounting operations while serving as the organization's financial steward.

Financial Leadership
  • Lead all corporate accounting operations
  • Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Ensure financial integrity across multiple legal entities
  • Develop accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Drive process improvement initiatives
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Oversee all financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax engagements

Inventory & Cost Accounting
  • Oversee inventory accounting for cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail operations
  • Ensure accurate valuation of inventory
  • Analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
  • Improve inventory reconciliation processes
  • Partner with Operations to improve inventory accuracy
  • Monitor manufacturing costs and production variances
Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Lead annual budgeting process
  • Develop financial forecasts
  • Monitor financial performance against budget
  • Produce executive dashboards and KPIs
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and reduce costs
Leadership
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Active CPA license
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
  • Previous experience as a:
