The Regional Editor will oversee the work of reporters covering areas outside of San Antonio, including Austin, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels and San Marcos, and will report and write stories in these areas as well. This position is intended to support MySA's expanded coverage into the broader regions surrounding San Antonio.

Qualifications Required:ย 

  • At least two years' experience as an editor
  • At least two years' experience as a reporter
  • Bachelor's degree

MySA is San Antonio's top local news site, providing daily news and information on what's happening in the local community and surrounding areas of southeastern and central Texas. MySA covers food, puro pop culture, the San Antonio Spurs through a cultural lens, local TV personalities, real estate, weather and other news for more than 5 million unique visitors monthly. While Hearst owns both MySA and its sister news outlet, San Antonio Express News, the two publications maintain separate newsrooms and are editorially independent of one another.

Regional Editor, MySA

The Regional Editor will oversee the work of reporters covering areas outside of San Antonio, including Austin, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels and San Marcos, and will report and write stories in these areas as well. This position is intended to support MySA's expanded coverage into the broader regions surrounding San Antonio.

The role has two primary responsibilities: (1) Executing the content strategy and the work of reporters covering expansion areas. This includes spotting timely stories that work for a digital-first MySA audience, assigning stories and videos, helping reporters generate ideas, working with them to refine their ideas, and editing their stories for both style and accuracy. The editor is expected to develop a creative partnership with reporters to help them produce outstanding journalism. (2) Writing and reporting timely, compelling and traffic-driving stories and videos as needed.
