Job description

This position is primarily responsible for sorting, distribution, and collection of campus mail and parcels. This position serves all students, staff, and faculty and requires a working knowledge of the college campus. Whomever is hired will be expected to learn this and the college's numerous departments to effectively provide a high level of customer service.

Job Duties

  • Pick up, load, sort, and transport moderate to heavy loads of mail/packages to prepare for delivery. 
  • Deliver mail/packages to campus partners and pick up any outgoing mail/packages.
  • Provide technical mailing advice and assistance to campus partners, as needed.
  • Process bulk mailings: determine most cost-effective option for college partners. 
  • Responsible for processing and filing student letters with support from student employees when available.
  • Manage retail window a minimum of 2/3 afternoons per week or as needed. 
  • Support other areas of Post & Print when workload allows it or urgency of projects require it. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a business mail center or US post office.

Requirements

  • General familiarity with postal laws, regulations, and products or willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable learning postal processing equipment and related software. 
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and with others, both within the department and throughout campus.
  • Creative thinker who looks to maximize efficiency and improve processes and customer experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid NC driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 25lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Both office environment and active outdoor work. Mail is delivered in all weather conditions: rain, snow, cold and heat.
