About the Position Under direct oversight from the Operations Supervisor, the Instrumentation and Controls Apprentice performs a variety of skilled work, to include installing, maintaining and repairing the measuring and control devices used in industrial, commercial processes of the City's Water and Wastewater facilities. Starting salary is $24.70/hour Incremental increases based on hours worked and strict performance goals outlined within the Apprenticeship program: 1000 work hours - increase to $25.39/hour 2000 work hours - increase to $26.10/hour 3000 work hours - increase to $26.80/hour 4000 work hours - increase to $27.49/hour Please Note: Be sure to check your email junk/spam folders regularly for possible notifications and/or self-schedule interview invitations from Governmentjobs

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience A High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, troubleshooting and staging of Instrumentation hardware, software and related equipment, preferably in a water/wastewater plant or facility. Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements Must possess, at time of application, and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Department requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: Graduated Driver's Licenses are considered restricted. Must obtain within two years of hire a Grade I operator certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment.

Must maintain certification throughout employment. This position requires satisfactory results of a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation. Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Must meet all of the following conditions within 36 months from date of hire as written within an approved performance plan: Complete all control systems training. Complete CPR/AED training. Complete all necessary safety training.

Complete 4,000 hours of on the job contact training. Must maintain performance level achieving all performance expectations as outlined to remain within the Apprenticeship Program and be eligible for assignment to the position of Instrumentation and Controls Technician I. Obtain Grade I certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) in Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment.
