This opportunity reports directly to the Owner/President. It is located in Downtown Rochester and is a primarily in-office position in a newly renovated office space. This client strongly prioritizes work-life balance so there is no overtime or weekends.

Salary $95K to $105K plus bonus potential and competitive benefits.

Our client is a well-established company that is well respected throughout the New York real estate industry. Their team of approximately 35 employees has an average tenure of over 15 years. They pride themselves on long-term relationships, operational stability, and continuous improvement, and are seeking a financial & operations strategist who can bridge the gap between finance, operations and technology to drive their business forward.

The Opportunity

As senior financial manager and strategic partner, you will transform financial and operational data into actionable insights that inform business decisions. You will oversee the accounting operations performed by two full-time bookkeeping staff, ensuring the integrity of financial information. Collaboration with senior leadership and the IT development team will be crucial in enhancing systems, reporting, and business intelligence. The ideal candidate will be both hands-on and forward-looking, capable of managing daily accounting while elevating analysis, forecasting, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership

· Supervise A/P, A/R, payroll, and general ledger activities performed by bookkeeping staff

· Review reconciliations and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes

· Produce timely and reliable financial statements

· Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies

Reporting & Business Insights

· Develop meaningful management reports, KPIs, dashboards, and cash flow projections

· Analyze trends, margins, and performance across products, clients and departments

· Provide variance analysis and actionable recommendations to leadership

· Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning

Strategic Partnership

· Act as a financial advisor to ownership in support of decision-making

· Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and cost control

· Participate in operational and technology initiatives impacting financial data and reporting

· Evaluate investments, contracts, and growth opportunities

Systems & Process Improvement

· Lead QuickBooks and related financial systems

· Partner with IT development to enhance automation, integrations, and data visibility

· Strengthen internal controls and documentation

· Improve workflows between accounting and other departments

External Relationships

· Serve as primary liaison with outside CPA firm, tax preparers, auditors, banks, and other financial partners

Qualifications

· 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience

· BS in Accounting or Finance

· Strong expertise in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) or other accounting software

· Demonstrated strength in financial analysis and translating data into insight

· Experience leading and supervising staff

· Advanced Excel/spreadsheet capability

· Thorough understanding of information technology procedures and practices

· Strong business acumen and communication skills

· Ability to operate both strategically and tactically

Preferred

· Experience in a small to mid-sized company, ideally reporting to or working closely with senior management/ownership

· Background working with system implementations or data integrations

- Interest in working with operations and logistics in addition to accounting/finance

- Experience developing and overseeing projects
