- 2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM (10% Shift Differential)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assembler to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for performing precise mechanical assembly of small and medium-sized components in a clean, climate-controlled production environment. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, using precision measuring instruments, and working with hand and power tools to build high-quality products.
This role is well-suited for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in quality craftsmanship, and possess strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Operate small equipment such as presses, magnetizing and demagnetizing equipment, and scanners in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assemble small and medium-sized parts according to specifications and quality requirements.
- Perform fitting and adjustment of components to achieve proper alignment, tolerance, and performance.
- Utilize indicators, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and assembly quality.
- Repair and rework sub-assemblies and major assemblies as needed to meet quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Handle magnetic components carefully to prevent damage and maintain product integrity.
- Work with glues and adhesives in a ventilated production environment while following safety guidelines.
- Inspect completed assemblies and identify defects or quality concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve assembly challenges and improve processes.
- Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical assembly, small-parts assembly, or manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to accurately read a ruler and perform basic measurement conversions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus on repetitive tasks.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with delicate, high-value components.
- Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with schematic reading and basic mechanical diagrams.
- Experience working with magnetizing or demagnetizing equipment.
- Experience using adhesives and assembly bonding materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.

Work Environment
This position is performed in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility and involves working at an individual assembly station using presses, scanners, magnetizing and demagnetizing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Employees work with delicate components and strong magnetic materials that require careful handling to prevent damage and scrap. The role also involves working with adhesives in an enclosed, ventilated area. Success in this position requires attention to detail, precision, safety awareness, and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.
