To thrive as a Contractual Remote Beta Tester, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with software or game testing, often supported by familiarity with various operating systems and devices. Proficiency with bug tracking tools (like Jira), test management systems, and sometimes knowledge of scripting or automation tools is typically required. Excellent written communication, problem-solving abilities, and self-motivation help testers provide clear feedback and work independently. These skills are crucial for identifying issues efficiently and delivering valuable insights to development teams in a remote, contract-based environment.

Contractual remote beta testers often encounter challenges such as unclear communication about testing requirements, limited access to support, and tight deadlines. Contractual Remote Beta Testers are professionals hired on a contract basis to test software, websites, apps, or products before their official release, working entirely from a remote location. Their main responsibility is to identify bugs, usability issues, and provide feedback to developers to improve the final product. As contractors, they are typically paid per project or per hour and enjoy flexibility in their work schedule while collaborating with development teams online. This role is crucial for ensuring a product meets quality standards and user expectations before it reaches the public.

  • 4+ years of software engineering in a VC backed startup environment or fast paced technology company with some mentorship responsibilities mixed in.
  • Experience building backend systems for web and/or mobile applications.
  • Pluses: Experience with fintech, data engineering, accounting systems, machine learning and/or 2-sided marketplaces.
  • Experience scaling products and systems in high growth environments - building features and automating testing and deployment.
  • Enjoys working with team members across the company (product, design, business, support, etc) to build products that customers love.

  • Contribute to product roadmap and key tradeoff decisions.
  • Gain business experience and participate in conversations with customers.
