Sterile Processing Technician- Modesto, CA - Local Contract to Hire - 37305534

13 weeks, Local Contract to Hire

2nd shift (A) 3pm-1130pm

* Locals only! Must live in a reasonable commuting distance from the facility location!

* No Travelers!

Required Certifications & Licensure: -Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CIS).

Duties:

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring every item meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection control.

Job Responsibilities:
-Follow all ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and company Work Instructions.
-Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and protocols.
-Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments as required.
-Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets per guidelines.
-Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and effectively.
-Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to packaging.
-Document missing or damaged instruments per SOPs.
-Maintain accurate and timely records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels.
-Handle all instruments and customer-owned items with care to prevent damage.
-Perform daily computer tasks and paperwork related to processing and tracking.
-Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels.
-Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
-Keep workstations and decontamination areas clean and organized.
-Adhere to company quality standards and infection control procedures.
-Communicate effectively with internal team members, operations personnel, and distribution staff.
-Provide feedback and suggest improvements to workflow and procedures.
-Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain certifications and competencies.
-Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:
-Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience in sterile processing, demonstrating proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization procedures.
-General knowledge of surgical instruments and processing protocols.
-Knowledge of sterilization techniques, including steam sterilization and infection control practices.
-Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs).
-Skill in operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and other related equipment.
-Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
-Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
-Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
-Capacity to meet deadlines and maintain performance under pressure.
-Ability to read and follow detailed Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
-Basic proficiency with personal computers and electronic data systems.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills.
-Willingness and ability to receive required vaccinations and health screenings.
-Collaborative attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
-Professionalism, reliability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
