Travel Surgical Technologist - CVOR

Location: Gastonia, NC 28054
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital 
Schedule: Full-Time | 13 Weeks | Day Shift (8-Hour Days)
Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Pay Rate:

  • Local Candidates: $45 - $50/Hour

  • Travel Candidates: $50 - $54/Hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and certified CVOR Surgical Technologist for a 13-week contract assignment in a high-acuity cardiovascular operating room. The ideal candidate will support complex cardiac surgical procedures within a fast-paced acute care environment, ensuring safe, sterile, and efficient operative workflows.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain sterile field for cardiovascular surgical procedures.

  • Set up and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for CVOR cases.

  • Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments during procedures.

  • Perform surgical counts before, during, and after procedures.

  • Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and OR turnover.

  • Ensure strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control standards.

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and OR staff.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Support emergency and on-call CVOR cases as required.

Requirements
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA (Required).

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

  • Strong CVOR (cardiovascular OR) experience required.

  • Experience in a large acute care hospital preferred.

  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular surgical procedures and instrumentation.

  • Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure OR environments.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • BLS certification preferred.
